This is about the 150th Thread about the Biblical basis for a person tithing 10% of all his income.

If you would like to hear 1000 points of view, just read some of the other Threads.

The Bottom Line: It's NOT clearly discussed by Jesus (or Paul) in the New Testament.
And, in the Old Testament, it is NOT clearly ordered.

It boils down to YOU.
If you have been tithing, but HATE it, then stop tithing (if you want).

Beyond that, listen to your Pastor.
If you attend Church, then your Pastor has his opinion on this issue.
In fact, if you REALLY want solid info, ask your Pastor.
Each person has his own favorite Verses to support his causes.

By the way, if you are only 16, your tithing has been pretty small up until now.

Heb. 7:4-10
Melchizedek's Priesthood Like Christ's

4Now observe how great this man was to whom Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth of the choicest spoils.

5And those indeed of the sons of Levi who receive the priest's office have commandment in the Law to collect a tenth from the people, that is, from their brethren, although these are descended from Abraham.
6But the one whose genealogy is not traced from them collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed the one who had the promises.
7But without any dispute the lesser is blessed by the greater.
8In this case mortal men receive tithes, but in that case one receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives on. (Jesus)
9And, so to speak, through Abraham even Levi, who received tithes, paid tithes, 10for he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him.

As stated, just do a search on tithe and see the many discussions.

It was OT law. We are not under OT law and it's biblically incorrect to say we are ordered to tithe. The bible says God loves a cheerful giver.

First, you should pay your debts.
You should be saving by now.

Give only what you can feel happy about. You may not even want to give to a church, but directly to someone poor. However, as you get older and make more money, you should support the church you're a member of.

Don't give out of guilt over the tithe.
