You are a liar for saying that it is clear in the Bible that Christians are to tithe. It is nowhere in the Bible. That makes you a liar UNLESS you can give scripture to show that you are correct and that I am the liar. One of us is a liar - a liar being one who teaches lies.

I believe I have proven my comments to be the truth by backing them up with scripture. You have nothing to back up your comments.

Being born-again and using The Spirit to guide me, I find myself giving closer to 30% or more, but not to a pastor teaching lies, but rather to those in need directly. Fighting for the truth has nothing to do with how much a person gives.

If you are really a born-again believer as I am, and you really love The Lord as I do, then you want to know the truth, and you want others to know the truth.

God's Word IS the truth. What comes out of a pastor's mouth may or may not be the truth. The ONLY way we can know if our pastor is teaching the truth is to compare what he teaches to The Word. There is no other way.

I have attended many churches, and most, if not all, have taught that if you don't tithe (to the church) you are robbing God. This is what I was taught. Then a few years ago my pastor asked me to teach a Sunday School Class in finances. I was shocked when I started researching the tithe. I went back to my pastor and showed him what I had found. He was also shocked. He said he would need time to do his own research. A few weeks later he STOPPED teaching tithing. I have met with several pastors to discuss tithing. One admitted that he knew I was correct, but he said if his congregation didn't believe that they were robbing God if they didn't tithe, they wouldn't give enough. Another pastor thought I was wrong but did his own research and STOPPED teaching tithing. Many pastors and Bible Study Teachers in the US, Canada, Australia, and East Africa are now teaching from my material on tithing, emailing me to tell me the truth must be told.

I take the truth seriously. If my teaching is wrong, someone needs to show me IN THE SCRIPTURES so that I can repent and apologize to those I have taught, and so that I can change my teaching to be nothing but truth.

If you can show me in the scriptures that you are correct and I am wrong, I will repent and cheerfully apologize to you, and will admit that I have been the liar.

I ask that NO ONE believe my teaching UNTIL they verify it with the scriptures. No one should take my word as truth without checking the scriptures. No one should just accept everything their pastor teaches.

Rent is REQUIRED to provide your housing and assurance for maintaining quality of life. Did God ever say that if you failed to pay a tenth of your income, that He would erase your name from the Book of Life... Evicting you from Heaven????
In essence, you're saying, "pay tithes or go straight to hell ",which is completely against the New Testament's principle of GRACE.

What about Matthew 23:23? Jesus was speaking to the Scribes and Pharisees who were still UNDER THE OLD TESTAMENT LAWS, including tithing. The Scribes and Pharisees were teachers and lawyers yet Jesus only said they ought to be tithing on the HERBS - food from "small" crops, but NEVER said they should be tithing on their income from their professions.

The New Testament didn't begin until AFTER Jesus died on the cross. Matthew 23:23 is OLD TESTAMENT.

It is good to remember the poor, but the 10% every sunday church tax, mandated by pastor is not scriptural.

What you said is not Biblical at all. It is the same old lies spoken by pastors.

The Biblical tithe was NEVER the first, and could NEVER come from the firstfruits. The firstfruits were given to the priests while the tithe was taken to the Levites. The Levites were not allowed to eat from the firstfruits. See Nehemiah 10:37. According to Leviticus 27:33, the tithe was the LAST ONE out of every ten, not the first. Doesn't anyone read their Bible?

The scriptures says nothing about the tithe being a declaration of faith in the promises of God.

This blog really shows me how little church goers study on their own. It shows me how church goers are so easily brainwashed by their pastor.

Not all denominations have paid pastors. Regardless, any payment made to a pastor is supposed to come from free-will giving, not tithes. In the Old Testament, the priests didn't receive the tithe, the Levites did. The Levites were the ushers, singers, musicians, etc. The Levites then gave the priests a tenth of the tithe. Is that how you do it in your church, or did your pastor change the rules?

I find it quite offensive that pastors have appointed themselves to be the receiver of what belongs to God. After all, the pastor says the tithe belongs to God. Then he appoints himself to receive the tithe!!! Sickens my stomach.

Facts: The SDA didn't always teach and collect a tithe. When the denomination was formed, one of the first meetings discussed how they would fund the denomination. THEY ALL AGREED THAT TITHING ENDED AT THE CROSS. That is recorded in the minutes so it's history. They first came up with a system where the men were to give more than the women. They used the Levitical tithe AS A MODEL, CHANGED IT to fit the needs of the SDA Church, and then were told to ENCOURAGE THE MEMBERS to accept their tithing plan AS THOUGH it was God's plan. Now they flat out lie and say it IS God's plan. This is all documented on the Estate of Ellen White's website which is run by the General Conference. If there ever was a church that lies about tithing, it is the SDA Church. Their own documentation, which they display on the internet for all to read, exposes their lies about tithing.

The REASON given for changing tithing from a percent of value of property owned to one's income was that using income would BRING IN MUCH MORE MONEY, and they VOTED to do it that way. AND NOW TEACH IT AS THOUGH IT COMES FROM THE SCRIPTURES! What a joke!

If church goers would only RESEARCH the history of tithing in their own denomination, they would see what a bunch of lies they are being taught.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. It's not about truth. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.
