• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

  • The rule regarding AI content has been updated. The rule now rules as follows:

Be sure to credit AI when copying and pasting AI sources. Link to the site of the AI search, just like linking to an article.

Tis' the season...

...forquestions.. Yes, yes. For you older folks, I am young and in want of knowing your views of various issue in the catholic Chruch.. For you younger people, I can be the person that asks about five too many questions.. But I need some information from everyone who is willing to dispell it. I'm not expecting well thought out, ten page papers, but a little something would be nice.

I want all answers to be from YOUR view, and what YOU believe.. I dn't want to hear what other people have to say (Sorry, I'm a bit boring I suppose). But I'm not asking this to hear what people in the past, or great leaders say.. But I want to come a bit one on one with you all. Now there are a few rules that I sorta want a general adherence too...

A). Post your own personal views.. No matter if you can't write a book on it, post what you believe. If you have Scriptures, then great, throw em' out..

B). Post why you believe what you do on the various issues... No matter if it's not well thought out, or if you haven't really thought it out. I want to hear it all, and I want to hear the truth...

C). Please keep conversations to the least amount. I know this is the internet and I do what you to have a good time while filling this out.. But I don't want it to get off topic. I need it to really be cut and dry, in a way..

D). i will be posting more questions as the time goes on.. I know it'snot a rule, but hey. It's fair warning to you all :)

Anyways, I'll thank you in advance :)

Grace and Peace,
Lyle

K). What makes a saint a saint?

Hmmm, that's all I'm going to throw out for now :)

Why all the rules? Just ask the questions you want and people will respond the best way they can.
I'm just trying to keep things o track. .Some people like to debate when they don't agree with someone.. Just to stress that this is a personal questionair.. Nothing mroe or less. Not a debate thread :)

Is this for a research assignment or for your own person interest?

Which other congregation board here at CF have you posed these questions, Lyle?

Hmmm, that's all I'm going to throw out for now :)

A) Our Lord, and savior. The Unspotted Lamb that takes away the Sins of the World, redeemer, sanctifier, Holy of all Holies, King of Kings, Prince of Peace, GOD, Word Of God, Our Spiritual Manna, etc. etc.

B) He was the Unspotted lamb that was sacrificed for our sins, etc.

c) Process of Purification so that we may be perfect and completey pure, 'clean', to enter Heaven,... for "Nothing unclean shall enter Heaven"

D) Absolutely not!, Purgatory cannot generate Sanctifying Grace on it's own accord, only God can. One only goes through the Purification Process if one is already heading towards Heaven. If they are damned to Hell, then there is no hope.

E) Keeping track on which prayer you are on, Indian messengers had the same concept of memorizing messages by beads (I think it was the Mayans?).--May I also add that the Rosary Beads are not the same as the Crucifix (Both are contained on the Rosary).

F) We ask Saints to pray for us. We believe that all (s)Saints are part of the Body of Christ, dead or not. The physical death does not separate us from the Same Body of Christ. In fact, we believe that those that have gone before us are even more alive than we are, because they are with Christ! I ask Saints to pray for me as often as I ask friends to pray for me. "Wherever there are three or more gathered in my name, I am there..." Well, St's could serve as prayer partners if one is Alone. We do not believe that Saints have any special power on their own accord.

G) To summon armies of Spiritual Warriors to aid you in battle with Evil on Earth. ;)

H) To protect the Divinity of Christ

I) 's'acraments are outward signs of our acceptance of Christ. 'S'acraments are those signes instituted by Christ Himself.

J) 1: Denying God's Will
2: Impairing/Inhibiting the building of God's Kingdom on Earth

K) A 's'aint is a member of the Body of Christ

Sorry so brief, but such a long list requires breavity in order to 'stay on topic'.

God Bless!!

None, sir. Actually I'm looking to the teachingsof the Catholic right now for my own personal interest, because it's the one i know the least about :) I'm not attempting to debate or attack in any way, just curious..

Lyle, if what you are looking for is Catholic teaching check out the sticky posts at the top of OBOB like http://www.christianforums.com/t53299-frequently-asked-questions-about-catholicism.html that would give you the answers to most of your questions here.

If a person is Roman Catholic, it's not about opinion on these issues, it is what it is in the Church as we are under one authority not all making up our own minds about how we want things to be. Once you've read that I'm sure you'll find more responses to more specific questions you might have but most of these are basic doctrinal issues of which St.Paul posted brief explanations already.
