My son, a recovering addict, has taken up with a program called the "Timothy Project."

Has anyone ever heard of this? I found a little out when I googled it. I am wondering if it is a Godly based ministry or a 'bent' one? It really doesn't matter WHAT I think of it, he is old enough to decide on his own. I am just curious. I know many ministries are 'wolves in sheeps clothing' and have hidden agendas. I think the thing that is bothering me, or that needs definition, is that in the little I have read there seems to be heavy emphasis on 'belt notching.' I don't know how heavy the emphasis is.

I get yellow flags in my spirit over things that EMPHASIZE anything at all in addition to creating an intimate personal relationship with the Lord. So, I am wondering if there is such a heavy emphasis on the 'recruiting end' of this program that Jesus gets buried in it.

As I said before, my opinion doesn't matter at his age, so much. I am looking to satisfy personal curiosity. I DO trust that the Lord can lead him to Himself through any number of means and we are not talking some Nazi cult here or something.

Feedback?

Hi,

I've never heard of this project before, but from what I gathered it looks like it's a project that's sponsored bythe Reformed Church. By initial appearances, I can't say whether or not they place a strong emphasis on one aspect of their program. Keep interacting with your son on the issue, however, and if there are concerns they are bound to come up in dsicussions. God bless.
