  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Time to try a different parish? Spooky...

Ok, two Sundays ago I went to Mass with my wife. I went to open the door to our Church and it wouldn't open. I pushed on it hard but it seemed locked. A few moments later I gently pushed on it and it opened.

Ok, that was kind of wierd, but no biggie.

Then last Sunday I went by myself to the Chapel. Again I pushed on the door, expecting some stickiness. It wouldn't open. I tried gently pushing, it wouldn't open. Then I put all my weight on the door and pushed hard, it wouldn't open.

Ok, so I thought it might be locked this time. Was Mass cancelled for some reason?

I stood outside for a bit waiting to see if anyone else was coming to Church. Finally an old couple and a younger guy came up and I watched them go to the door. They went right in the door. So I went inside and asked the younger guy if he unlocked the door, but he said "No, it was open."

I am 250 lbs and reasonably strong. Why couldn't I open the door? Is someone trying to tell me something? My wife doesn't like the Parish and wanted to go to another one before I told her about the door. She tends to "know" things without knowing how or why she knows them...I believe it is called "clairsentience."

Spooky, huh?

I also don't feel His presence in this Church like I did in my other two ones in the States. Normally I can literally feel His peace coming from the consecrated hosts in the Tabernacle.

Sorry for spamming... :sorry:

I'd say that whilst It's good to have a community feel to a parish, it's even more important for your church to be a place where you feel God's presence, are filled with His spirit, and inspired by Him. If you're not getting that, it might do no harm to try some others.

I stuck with my closest church for a while, till I realised I was getting little spiritual inspiration. An extra half-mile, and I now worship at the Catholic cathedral, which has an incredible presence for me :prayer:

I had the same thing happen to me (the door wouldn't open) except that it was when I went to Confession last Saturday. The door knobs wouldn't move (I tried them all), so I had to wait for a person to leave inorder for me to get in... I didn't think very much of it until I read your post...

I don't think there's anything wrong with the church I go to (it's very spirit-filled), I think it was 'someone else' who didn't want me going to Confession, if you know what I'm getting at. ;)

Ok real suggestions: Talk to a priest if your considering changieng parishes talk to the priest at both churchs. If you don't have a priest to talk to try www.askfarther.com

Second go to adoration and see where the Lord leads you. :)

Never make choices like this hastely
