  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No the greatest commandments did not end, which is a summary of the Ten how to love God and love neighbor.
This is not biblical. The greatest/most important commandments are not a summary of the ten. The ten commandments were not even in the context of the question.

One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

“Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him.To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.

Actually just the opposite is true. If Jesus and the apostles had not kept the Sabbath the outrage from the "judaizers would have been all over the new testament.

Huh. So we demonstrate our love for God by disobeying Him? Odd way to demonstrate love. If you're married do you demonstrate your love for your wife by ignoring what she asks you to do? Secondly, you ignore the fact that Jesus was speaking to a highly educated Jew to whom the Sabbath was a really big deal. He was probably a Pharisee too as he was participating in a trap to catch Jesus advocating breaking the law of God.

The texts that comprise the Bible were mostly if not all written by the end of the first century. The canon of the Bible was established forever by the Catholic Church in the late 300s.
What does that have to do with anything? If Luther's, Tyndale's, or Erasmus' Bible translations were fully RCC approved why did the RCC church declare it a crime worthy of death to own or read them?

The only NT text you used is Mk 2:27 and this one actually means the opposite you think it means. It means that Jesus is above Sabbath, not subdued to it.
Some seem to put the Sabbath above Jesus.

Judaizers could quite possibly be why Paul wrote Colossians 2:16. Fact is that the Jews did say Jesus and his apostles did not keep the sabbath Matthew 12:2, Mark 2:24, John 5:18

Do you wear tassels? If not you are disobeying God. “You shall make tassels on the four corners of the clothing with which you cover yourself." Deuteronomy 22:12.

I once asked a Messianic Christian "do make yourself tassels on the four corners of your garment with which you cover yourself? And HARK! said: Of course! Like I said, I fulfill the Torah. I belong to YHWH.

The idea that God wrote the Ten commandments while Moses wrote all the rest of the law of Moses is talked about a lot when the subject of keeping only some of the law of Moses comes up.

An issue someone already presented earlier is that the first and second greatest Commandments are not part of the 10. Yes, they are related, but they go way beyond what the ten say.

If some things that God spoke to Moses that Moses later wrote down are in effect today, then God written versus Moses written is not a useful method of dividing up the law of Moses.

I'm just acknowledging what scripture clearly says, without trying to change it into saying something else. Since I keep the sabbath by choice, what Paul says in Col 2:16 has no effect on that. But if I had dedicated myself to a Christian denomonation that is all about Christians mandatorily keeping the the old covenant sabbath law God gave to the Jews, then I'd most certainly have a problem with Col 2:16.
If this assessment is correct, it means Jesus was wrong and the gates of hell did overcome His church in the first century. It must be heartbreaking to have to believe that 99.9% of Christians for the last 2000 years will not enter the kingdom of heaven. To have to believe that Satan overcame the church that Christ built for two thousand years, except for the small remnant the prophet Ellen White started gathering one thousand eight hundred and sixty years later.

Romans 10:6-8 paraphrases Deut 30:10-14 which is actually the first time the New Covenant was given in respect to the Law, the word, being put in the heart of the believer that we do it. Deut 29:1. There is your proof.

Please do a demonstration of how you separate laws into commandments, statutes, judgments, and ordinances
Or a different approach: how about taking this instruction and saying whether it is a commandment, statute, judgment, or ordinance? (Anyone who believes they can reasonably divide up the law of Moses is welcome to participate )

So you take your theology from His avowed enemies and think He was a sinner? If that is true Peter being hung upside or Paul bring beheaded can save you from your sins. What need was there for Jesus to die on the cross if a sinner can save us?

Does that apply to all Christians? Doesn't it sound like all Christians are priests?

Why take only some of them for priests and Levites?

1. The Bible is not a "new belief of men". It is the word of God.

2. Whenever the threat of persecution to himself arose Erasmus would back away from his beliefs. That is not brave behavior.
Luther is not the "word of God." As to what Erasmus did, you were there? How in the world do you judge someone from so many centuries ago as a coward? The truth is that you don't know whether he was braver than you or I.

So, if I do not comply with the ceremonial laws which pointed forward to the Messiah I am a sinner? Now the command to wear tassels which were to keep the Israelites reminded of God and were not specifically part of the ceremonial law.

Are you aware that the entire book of Deuteronomy was kept in a pocket on the side of the ark of the covenant not under the mercy seat with the eternal law of God?

Notice that the ark of the covenant was called that because it held the covenant God made with the Israelites.
