Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

When I read the verse that Solomon wrote of how a cord of three strands cannot be quickly broken, I am reminded of a verse from the Prophet Isaiah which says that they who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. (Isaiah 40:31) In some English versions the word wait is used, but in the Hebrew the word qavah can be found which means to bind together by twisting, and to gather together. How differently I view that verse when I think of myself being renewed in strength by being woven together with a loving God. And then when I have someone who will agree in prayer with me, we make up a cord of three strands, which cannot be easily broken. How awesome it is to be part of and wear a piece of clothing made up of cords of three strands. It will not wear out and is renewed daily by prayer. I am so grateful for friends who agree in prayer together. Today God is doing for me what I could not do for myself............... JRE
