  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thoughts on Psalm 107

The Lord is good and merciful, delivering the redeemed from the hand of the enemy. Who's counsel shall we desire, but that of the Lord, who gathers his own from the east, west, north, and south.

The people wander in a wilderness, without understanding; their way is desolate. But there is a Way which is true, desirable, and full of Wisdom. There is a city, a Kingdom Most High, beckoning men to come hither. The spiritually hungry and thirsty, those whose souls are faint, whose hands are withered and weak shall cry out to the Lord, and He shall hear them and be their Deliverer. Those distressed, without discernment, shall humble themselves before the Lord, and they shall be delivered. There shall be a healing of their affliction and distress.

Give thanks to the Lord for all the understanding He puts before you. When He gives light to your path, shout your praises and rejoice in new-found wisdom, for Wisdom gives wise counsel to the children of God. She is with the Lord forever, satisfying the innermost longing of the soul, feeding the hungry, and quenching the thirst of those who seek her.

Give thanks for every drop of rain from heaven.

How could someone not love the psalms. 107, great. I like what you added too. Every psalm gives me strength and increases my love for David and the Lord. A man after my own heart. And you too. Love in the Lord Rainah.

Thanks, CRF. I've been reading through the Psalms, and 107 was the one I landed on today. I thought it very beautiful, and found much deeper meaning in it than ever before.

Love in the Lord to you, too.

~Rainah

Those who despise the counsel of God, preferring lies and the counsel of men, and those who rebel against His Word are said to be in "affliction" and "in irons". They sit in the darkness and in the shadow of death. It is God who has brought them down to labor. By the sweat of their face shall they eat their bread. Great distress overtakes them, and in their trouble, they cry out to God.

He shall save them! He delivers them from the darkness and from the shadow of death. He breaks their chains, and breaks the gates of bronze. He cuts the bars of iron in two.

By the sweat of their face. Reminds me of when Jesus was in the garden and his sweat became like blood. Jesus said to them , could you not stay awake. I think that when people fall asleep this is what happens to Jesus. It is because of them that the sweat comes. That teaching shows he suffers because of people teaching him in error. Oh yee of little faith, how long will I suffer you. Can you see that Rainah.

I always found that interesting CRF how in first Adam he was to work the ground (from where he was taken) by the sweat of his brow, and in last Adam (Christ) sweat great drops of blood in a garden. It was the ground into which the drops of blood fell (wheras in first Adam) under the curse would yeild thorns in last Adam (Christ) is shown wearing a crown of them. Maybe even a picture of redemption from the curse can be seen even there. The soul that sinneth (as Adam was a living soul) shall die (as all in Adam die) and in Christ (last Adam, made a life quickening spirit) who made his soul an offering (through the Spirit) the very thing that was made sorrowful unto death (in the garden).

Little mirrors, the disobedience of one in first Adam (sin unto death) and the obedience (even unto death) in last Adam, Jesus Christ.

Theres pretty kool contrasts between the two, Im always trying to find those.

God rocks:thumbsup:

God bless you

The Lord is delivering us hay Rainah. Give thanks to the Lord.

Robed with honor and majesty, he rides the wings of the wind.
curtains of light, surround you my Lord, how great thou art, how great thou art. Faithful loving kindness, and triumph at your hand. Highest and mightiest Lord, there at your command. With the ministering fire, and the spirit of truth. We give you praise and lift you higher my Lord. How great thou are, how great thou art.

I love Psalms too! It's my favorite devotional book! but when i first read it I remember thinking David must have been a manic depressant, so many ups and downs and seemingly forgetting previous blessing. Then I realized we are all a lot like him :)

I know what you mean IndieVisible, I thought, Gees, if David were here today doctors nowadays would most likely prescribe Him anti depressants! Using their standard of measure (that is).

God bless you

LOL, Oh yes! I can relate to David quite well. The thing about David is he knew the power of praise. If you notice, he starts out in his depressed mode, but then he begins to praise, and by the end he's sorted himself out, and he's full of courage and faith again. Praise does work that way. I suppose it reminds us how awesome God is.

He is worthy.

True praising Him has that effect, even assuring yourself that no matter how bad it looks (or might be at anytime) His goodness and faithfulness has always come shining through to you in the end. His mercy is great!

God bless you
