With the horrific massacre in Orlando, the Christian community has really gotten into some controversial issues. The Christian community now has some time to reflect on the gun issues from a theological point of view.

What does the church teaches on gun control? Is there really any authoritative document arguing for or against gun control?

But there are still the LGBT issues we need to confront

How do we as a church really comfort this community, while at the same time stand firm in our teaching?

Why do we point out against Islam's teaching when our teaching on sexual ethics tend to be the same?

Please elaborate on your last statement. How are they the same?

How do we comfort the gay community? The same way the Good Samaritan provided aid for a total stranger.

And as we should, present the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed as the apostles did.

I believe this is one of those issues where Christians will legitimately fall all across the spectrum. Unlike many of the hot button issues debated, I do not see any clear biblical instruction that is directly applicable. Teach the bible, and let people arrive at conclusions based on their convictions.

How do we as a church really comfort this community, while at the same time stand firm in our teaching?
By assisting and loving and comforting as we can. When Jesus helped those in sin, did he risk not being firm in his teaching? Of course not. He did not say "fix up your life, and then I will love you". if in a position to materially help, as Chick fil a did, that is obviously a good thing. For those of us not located where we can materially help, simply speaking compassion to the LGBT community can be helpful. Telling them while we are sad we know that the murders impact them in deeper ways. Stating openly we do not agree with the Sacramento radical pastor who said Orlando was better for the murders. It may be tempting to be silent for fear of compassion being mistaken for supporting their sin - but that would be a mistake. Silence can be very loud in sending a message of apathy or that some people are not worthy of compassion and love. That silence is not a message Jesus sent to those around him. There is a time to present the truth of scripture - this is not that time. This is a time to show the love of Christ.

Why do we point out against Islam's teaching when our teaching on sexual ethics tend to be the same?
I do not understand specifically what you are referencing .

The Christian Church (meaning all churches that are Christian) does not make laws, but genuine Followers of Christ would never abuse a weapon.

I think the Bible gives us clear instructions on the other questions.
