Do you understand the word futile?
I hate when people say things like this. There's no Christ in it at all.
You know what's futile? Being the Son of God, leaving your throne in heaven and popping down to earth to explain the kingdom of God to people who can barely hear you.
If you can't humble yourself to this 'futile' task, quit insisting that you are following Christ and that other guy isn't. Plank, speck, and all of that.
Kindgdom Bible Studies Revelation SeriesRevelation 2:18 And to the messenger of the Assembly in Thyatira, write! Now this is saying the Son of the GOD,
the One having the eyes of Him as flame of fire, and the feet of Him as to burnished-brass.
I need to look it up............Do you understand the word futile?
He was asking to argue about the cannon of Scripture. We already know he doesn't accept the general 66 book cannon of protestants. It is therefore futile to discuss what cannon I believe in. My purpose here isn't to argue.I hate when people say things like this. There's no Christ in it at all.

I'd say the graphic is on the money.I need to look it up............
Mal 3:14
You have said, It is futile to serve GOD.
What do we gain by carrying out His requirements and going about like mourners before YAHWEH Almighty?'
Rom 1:21
For although they knew GOD, they neither glorified Him as GOD nor gave thanks to Him,
but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.

I follow Messiah who taught me to avoid the teachings of the Pharisees (Mt 16:6-12), and warned me to remember that the Pharisees are serpents, hypocrites, whited tombs, blind guides, vipers & full of uncleanness and lawlessness; they block the way to heaven & teach their followers to become children of hell & He wonders how they can escape the damnation of hell in Mt 23.So, tossing Paul, falsely witnessing against him, is nothing more than simply not understanding what Paul knew. There's a choice. Righteousness from the law that must exceed their blamelessness or righteousness from grace through faith. To be found in your own works (the Sinai covenant) or in His works (the Zion covenant). Take your pick.
So you believe the 66 book Protestant canon is the genuinely authoritative & inspired canon, and that any other canon (including the Catholic, Orthodox, Ethiopian, Assyrian, etc.) are false and uninspired, correct? He was asking to argue about the cannon of Scripture. Acts 23:6: "I am a Pharisee".Yep, not a problem for me or Paul.
Phil 3 circumcision on the eighth day! of the race of Israel! of the tribe of Benjamin! a Hebrew of Hebrews! according to law a Pharisee!
according to zeal persecuting the assembly! according to righteousness that is in law becoming blameless!
Then what did Paul say? Does he think himself still of the law?
But what things were to me gains, these I have counted, because of the Christ, loss; ...
not having my righteousness, which is of law, but that which is through faith of Christ -- the righteousness that is of God by the faith,
Paul knew deut 5 and 6. He knew what Christ had said about the Pharisee. He rejected that righteousness of the Law, for the righteousness through faith of Christ--that is, the righteousness of God.
Where did James and John teach this?
These verses do not teach that "loving your neighbor" fulfills the Law.John 13:34-35
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.
1 John2
Brethren, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning. 8 Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining.
9 He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. 10 He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. 11 But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
Sorry it was only John, but what James says looks like it:
James 1:27
Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
Matthew 22:37
Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.
These verses do not teach that "loving your neighbor" fulfills the Law.
Luke was not a disciple. He was an employee, a scribe aka/ secretary, of Paul and his physician. Unless Luke wanted to be out of a job he'd not speak ill of his boss.Oh my! The Lord bore witness to paul's grace preaching!
Unless Luke fibbed?
Acts 14:3 So they remained for a long time, speaking boldly for the Lord, who bore witness to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
No and it certainly wouldn't be yours.Would that also be your answer to unbelievers who might ask you which Bible to get (that is, which canon)?
Acts 23:6: "I am a Pharisee".
Where did I suggest such a thing? Did I say something that isn't already in the record? So you believe the 66 book Protestant canon is the genuinely authoritative & inspired canon, and that any other canon (including the Catholic, Orthodox, Ethiopian, Assyrian, etc.) are false and uninspired, correct?
