CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Dear Lord, We pray for all souls lost in the terrorist bombings in Madrid, for the dying and for the severely wounded. We pray for an end to political violence everywhere. We pray that this weekends elections in Spain will not precipitate more violence. We pray for the people of that great land that played a central role in history of the Americas and especially for the great majority of Basques who join world leaders in condemning this atrocity. In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Abba, we are so upset over what happened in Spain today, and I know that if we are this sick about it, you are even more so. We know it is never your plan for men to use violence to get their way, but some people don't realize that their own way is not as important as the lives of the people they are killing. I pray that you will reach into the hearts of whoever did this and convict them of the horrible guilt they should bear for what they have done. Don't let them get away with it, because if they do, they might never come to repentence and be saved. Please a heavy spirit on them, rack them with guilt and sorrow for the death and pain they have caused, give them no rest until they realize that they have sinned against humanity and against You.
Father, please don't stop there. Don't just let them feel the full weight of their guilt, but place in their continual presence people who can lead them out of their guilt into a new life with you. Make the guilt only the first essential step to coming to repentence, forgiveness and salvation in you.
And for all those who are suffering at their hands, give them your comfort, your peace and let everyone of them know that even in this, you are in full control and never would let them suffer without an awesome reason. Amen.
