Name: Thorn
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Race: Barbarian
Height: 6' 7"
Weight: 300 Lbs
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Grey
Personality: Loving, Kind, Gentle, Strong Willed, Bold
Bio (history):
Born to poor and humble parents. Left home at a young age to discover the world. He has traveled the world, loved, lost, failed and conquered. All along, looking for something greater than himself. He keeps no Earhtly treasures, he only carries what he needs to survive. He has fought for what he believes to be good.

He has the ability to sense evil and harm. It's a strange ability, coming and going at random. He can use it when he wants, but it is not always accurate. He also has a rage deep within that he can usually keep subdued. He is slow to anger, and easy to appease.

I'm having fun with this, time to add some background info in.

Thorn started his journey in servitude to his parent's Warlord to pay for their land debt. He started out as a foot soldier in the warlord's army. He fought bravely in MANY battles. He eventually made it to General. At which point he fell in love with the Warlord's youngest daughter.

Upon finding this out the Warlord was furious. He tried to have Thorn killed, but the other Generals had fought with him and knew of his abilities. They instead tried to reason with the lord to get him pardoned. The Warlord had them all executed for treachery.

When Thorn found out about the execution, he confronted the Warlord. They exchanged words and they exchanged blows, and Thorn barely excaped with his life.

Later the Warlord hired an assassin to hunt down Thorn. The assassin was good, and thorough. But had no idea that the Warlord's daughter had run away to find Thorn.

She found him, and they tried to settle down in a distant land. But the assassin found them. He used poison, it was intended for Thorn. But by mistake the Warlord's daughter was killed instead. Thorn was devistated. He traveled non stop back to the Warlord's palace. The guards did nothing to stop him. For they were loyal to their General.

The Warlord never had a chance to defend himself, for the anger that had been held inside for SO long was released in a GREAT rage! The witnesses said that it was if the greatest beast ever imagined had been set loss upon the world. For Thorn killed the Warlord with his own hands, no weapon was used. They also say that the Warlord's body was unrecognizable. When Thorn left the palace he was covered in the blood of the Warlord! Of course there were a few that were loyal to the Warlord, but Thorn dispacted them as they tried to arrest him.

After the murder of the Warlord, Thorn was labeled an outlaw by the King. "The penalty for the 23 counts of these meaningless murders is death!" Said The King. One of those included his beloved Lady. For the truth was never known and he WAS the cause of her death. If he had never loved her, if he had never desputed the Warlord, if he had never let her find him. She would still be alive!

Since then he has travel the world over, far from his home. But still has not found that which he seeks!

Many bounties were placed on his head. For the son of the Warlord, has saught revenge for his father's murder. He has hired every hunter and assassin that could be found to hunt Thorn down. Many of which have died since the journey began. Many of which have not traveled outside their own land. Only the greediest or foolish have followed him this far.

The Great Dragon was one of those, that thought he could capture Thorn. But after that great battle and hearing the true story, he took pity on Thorn and gave him the dagger. The Great Dragon also gave him a promise, that when he finds that which he seeks, he, himself, will carry Thorn to the great place that his Lady awaits at his journey's end.

Another warbler for you!

For causing the death of innocents, he is cursed, he is cursed to walk the Lands till he finds that which he seeks. Not immortal, but not able to die. He is tortured by the spirits that died at his hands. As his journey progresses, the spirits become more numerous.

The Guardian.

I would like to give a little background on the Dagger that has become Thorn's traveling companion. It is what the old D and D guys would con sider a Runed weapon. Basically, it's a living artifact. It was given to Thorn, by the Great Red Dragon. The Great Red Dragon's real name is unknown. Thorn is a Barbarian Warrior, so he refers the the dragon as such.

The origins of the dagger are as old as the Lands themselves. The Great Red Dragon became one of it's many protectors over the ages. The Guardian decides when it is time to move onto it's new protector. Once the Guardian has chosen, there can be no keeping it. It will disappears and then reappears in the new owner's possession, it may or may not say good bye. It's a runed artifact, it can be a little... "grumpy" at times.

Description:

-12 inches in length (6" handle, 6" blade)
-Perfectly balanced
-Has ruins engraved throughout it
-Blade is dull in appearance
-Handle is of polished red bone, believed to have been that of an ancient Red Dragon.
-Can not be seen by everyone, only those that know of it and believe
-Has mystical powers that are not entirely known (Thorn believes it to be a demon/spirit slayer)
-It occassionally will speak to itself, it's protector, mystical beings and other Runed Artifacts.
-The blade is jagged on the top, like the horned back of a dragon, and a curved razor on the bottom of the blade. (Thorn believes this is why it can not be withdrawn from the demon/spirit once it impales itself.)
-The thrower does not have to aim the blade to hit a demon/spirit the dagger knows the throwers target and propels itself
-If used on an innocent to kill, could be fatal to the weilder
-If used to kill the guilty, can pentrate the thickest armor (Thorn has never used it for anything other than killing a demon/spirit that was tormenting him)

Thorn's weapon of choice and greatest possession...

Thorn does not have any problems with battles. He's a Barabrian, duh! LOL He does not use a shield too often. He believes they get in the way. He carries a large double bladed battle axe that he can wield with one hand. The axe is about 5 feet long, double bladed, and the blades are shaped like dragons. With the dragon head at the top with the wings being the blades. The axe weighs about 60-70 pounds, but that is of no importance to Thorn. He wields it, like it is a part of his own body.

The stock is made of the finest steel wood. Carved and engraved with depictions of great battles throughout history. The handle is of the finest leather. Soft and rugged as if wrapped by an Elven leather smith. There eyes on the dragon blades are that of the most beautful red jewel. Never have they fallen out. The steel is of the blackest night. Sharpened to a razor's edge. This axe is designed for only one purpose, to protect it's wielder and bring honor in battle.

The axe was given to him as a gift for winning a great battle for his Lord. It took many craftsman to make it, and the steel is of the finest ever. The Great Red Dragon found that his breath could not even melt this axe. Which made the Great Dragon believe that there is more to Thorn than he realized. Thorn does not ever worry about it being stolen if left unattended. For one, it is not easily concealed, it is very large and heavy. Plus Thorn has never worried about someone stealing from him. LOL

The axe has shed much blood since he has had possession of it. It has spilled the blood of Dragons, Witches, Warlocks, Wizards, Sorceresses, Goblins, Demons, Warriors, Knights, Paladins, and even one Elf. Thorn is a warrior through and through and he has faced many enemies and never once has his axe failed him. Many a time, his own strength and rage has failed him, but never his greatest possession.

Thorn himself...

Thorn is a giant of a man. Standing 6' 7" he has an intimidating presence. He weighs that of an ox, and is stronger than a lion. He has killed many things with his bare hands.

He is afraid of no mortal being or creature. For he has fought all varieties of enemies. He is immune to the horrors of war, because he has seen to many horrible things. He is aware of right and wrong. For example, killing the wolves before they could harm him, he feels is wrong. He believes he should have let them attack first.

He has loved once, and he feels he it is his fault for her death. He does not feel he can be loved by any other soul. He feels he does not deserve it.

He dresses very plainly, except for a large amulet he wears around his kneck. It can not be removed because the chain is strong and he has worn it since he was a child. (The chain will not fit back over his head.) His mother told him it was to protect him and remind him of better days.

He wears no shirt. (duh, Barbarian!) but wears trousers with a large belt with a dragon's head for a buckle. (Don't Ask!) His cloak is made from the belt of a wearbear that died a good death in battle. He honors the beast by wearing it. (Once again, he's a Barabrian.)

His hair is like the sunset. Long and blonde, kept wrapped in a tight braided tail by a woven leather band. His eyes are his most unusual feature. They are grey, almost lifeless. His mother once told him his eyes were of the most beautiful sky. But his troops always said they never saw any other color but red. His Lady always said they were the perfect green. He's never seen anything other than grey.

His troops believe him to be a dragon himself. For he is fierce in battle, loves those things beautiful and always protected that which he felt was worth protecting. He gave graciously of his spoils to his men and made sure every warrior under his command had a "good death".

Thorn's Journey...

Here's the fun stuff. Thorn is immortal, though he can be killed and wounded. He can not die of natural causes, and does not age. It is a curse put on him by the great ones for the acts of his life. He is traveling, but does not know to where, or for what reason. It is believed that it is to set right all the things he has done wrong. Also that he is redeeming is soul. He does not believe himself worthy of redemption. For every time he does something good, he feels it comes at very high costs of life.

His travels have taken him to the Halls of the Great Red Dragon, to the pits of the mountain forges, through the beautiful clouds of the angels, to the very bottoms of the seas. He has fought may foes, and vanquished many adversaries. He has been scarred many times by battle, and burned by the fires of hell itself.

His journey has now brought him to this Elvin forest. He hopes this will be the end of his journey. For he knows not what he must find, but knows that it is what will set him free. This journey is that which will grant him the forgiveness of the great ones, and carry him on the back of a Dragon to the place of which he must be. There and only there shall he find that which he seeks…
