2Co. 12:7-9 To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christs power may rest on me.
What is your thorn? Is there an addcition? a phyiscal handicap? a weakness? have you prayed and hoped that the Lord could rid you of this? Many times like Paul we seek to be delivered of our thorns. While deliverence is possible, somethings in our life are not delivered. We remain unhealed, with our scars and weakness ever before us.
Just like paul we plead and pray. But instead the Lord has something else in mind. Instead that we exsist daily upon his grace. That the Lord does his work in our lives nad the lives of other, despite and through our weakness. Our weakness also keeps us focused on our Lord and his grace.
I will give you a practical example: I have my own thorn in the flesh, food addiction. I at one point in my life wieghed 316 lbs, and was eating out of control ( i wiegh 234 right now). i am in a 12 step program for it. In a sense i must live a daniel 1 sort of fast everyday. I avoid foods i can't eat in moderation, i wiegh and messure portions, and avoid places with foods that are too tempting. BUT, I can ONLY do this because of GOD'S GRACE.
Each day I must come before the Lord, and call on his grace and strength. For on my own I would continue to eat out of control,I could not last a day, It is only through His power, strength and grace, that my eating is held in check.
In another sense our weakness is a beautiful testimony to Christ. Eachday we must come before the Lord and lay our weakness upon his grace. Each we can see his glory as he guides us and bears us up. In a sense we are blessed becuase we have a Lord, who shows us mercy, who grants us grace, and who loves us in our weakness. As the Lord works through us, we are living record of his glory and grace to others. It is not our strenght or our works that make us saints. But The Lord shining through us, despite our flaws and imperfections. We are a beautiful work of the Lord that would take us marred and cracking, and turns us into beautiful works of his Holiness, his Grace, His Mercy and his undying Love.
Lord,
Today I come before you, with my weakness. Lord, I cry our out for your mercy and grace. Lord, give me your strenght today to live in you Love, Grace and Mercy. I thank You Lord for this weakness, for through it I can see Your Glory, Your Grace and Your Love. Lord, work your strenght through my weakness, so my life might be a testimony to Your undying Love and Grace.
In the name of Jesus, I pray
