In the days before computers, a typewriter at the local newspaper broke down. The writer with the broken typewriter decided to write his story by hand and present it to the editor.
The editor returned the story with a note: "This writing is slanted."
The writer returned to the story, reworked it a bit, then presented it to the editor again.
Again he got the dreaded note. "This writing is slanted."
The writer now stormed into the editor's office. "Look, I have added enough 'alleged's' and 'this person claims' to fill a book. This matches every standard of objectivity I can think of. And you call it slanted?"
The editor says "I meant that your handwriting was slanted. I could barely read it!"
