This will sound stupid because to some it may not seem like a big deal but to me it's pretty much everything.
My dog died on monday morning at about 2 am.
He was a black pug named Smush.
He was stung by a bee to which he was deathly allergic apparantly.
The bee was buzzing by and Smush tried to grab it with his mouth like he would anything that moved. Within about 5 minutes Smush was barely there.
Basically I'm crushed. On the way to the animal hospital I was praying the whole time. I don't pray usually. I've kind of felt if god answers some prayers like healing cancer then why doesn't he answer others... for example a dying dog or even people for that matter.
My general problems are... where is Smush? Do animals go to heaven and is there scriptural evidence for this?
I understand that it isn't necessarily God's fault because everything just worked the way nature intended. Smush reacted to stimulus of the bee buzzing by and the bee reacted because he thought he was in danger. Smush had an allergy which caused him to die. It's hard not to blame God though... Why would he not answer my prayer?
Maybe it's stupid to have a dog cause a spiritual crisis but It does for me.
Can anybody help?

Hi Aimless,

i'm sorry you lost ur dog in such a unexpected way. Smush sounds like he was a huge part of your life and will be sorely missed. I wish I had the answers to comfort you but we are at a loss to understand why things happen the way they do and it seems like God is ignoring us but he's always around

Some very wise person on here posted this

A word from God

For still he walks listening to the cry of your heart. For where the world has drowned out your cry by its excessive grasping for power and success, it is to you he comes.

How long has he sought after you. How many nights has he stood silently in the shadows unseen by you and those that surround you.

For it is he who weeps as he hears your soundless scream in the midnight hour. It is he who watches as you try in your brokeness to marshall together the fragments of your broken heart.

And so most beloved of his children, he now comes closer, the fairest of ten thousand.
And as he walks out from behind the shadows and you lift up your tear stained face to him, half blinded by the radiance from his most beautiful face, he reaches out his hand to you.

He reaches out his hand to touch you face and his touch lingers on your cheek as he brushes away the tears that flow.
And he smiles that most wonderous of smiles.

"You?"

And you hear his tender whisper.

"I have sought you all your life".
"Through all the pain, through all the loneliness, I have sought you".
"Each time your heart broke soundlessly with the agony of not belonging, I sought you".
"Through each rejection, through each hour of despair, I sought you".
"I am here, loving you, reaching out to you".
"it was me all along".

That is his cry to you.

"Oh precious beloved child who I love more than life itself, how I am my father love to be with you".

"You are our great desire".

"My beloved, my heart has broken with the things that have broken your heart".

"For i see you struggle from one day tom the next".
"I see the tears of despair and the pain of rejection and I say to you, where no man has known your pain, I the Lord know your pain and I am the one who takes you up".

"For my arms reach out to you with a burning compassion for you, for surely I know the hardness of mens hearts these days".

"If you forgive those who have wronged you then i will pour out my spirit on you".

"In my book I instructed you to pray for those who persecute you, even those closest to you".

" I am he who sees and knows".

Dearly beloved, precious child you are not forgotten by me.
To you that has stuggled, been oppressed, misunderstood, been lonely, felt discouraged and backslidden, even suicidal.

My mercies are so near to you in this last age.
My compassion for you knows no limits.
I would reach out my arms to you and tenderly wisper your name.
I would draw you apart from the strains of living.
For your struggles are seen by me and so often in this church age, where my body has failed to take up your cause and has passed you over, my hands are outstretched to you, for SURELY you are not forgotten by me.

It is no coincidence that these words are in your hands.
Be assured of this, I have seen into your heart and I know your circumstances and just for a few moments I would draw you into my presence.

I am taking this opportunity to speak my comfort to your heart, to encourage your weary soul.
I would whisper to you, all is well my child, for your deliverer is here.
I am mighty in your midst.
Dont give up my child, yet a little while and my light will shine on you.
For you see, you are nothing without me, and beloved, where you have counted no man, you are of exceeding more worth than rubies to me.
Where no man takes you up, I come with my might arm of mercy and compassions.
For I would whisper again to your heart, dearly beloved, you are not forgotten by me.

Beloved I know it has seemed a desert place, I have seen your hands fall in despair and I have heard your voice and heart crying out to me.

I have seen the grieving of your heart.
I have seen into the depths of your heart.
You bring great joy to me when you draw near and ask to commune with me, for surely you have blessed the heart of my father.

As so my child, the father himself would gather you as his priceless treasure, beyond value, so surely you have touched the heart of the father.

And I say to you that in a short while your rose will bloom, where rivers and streams will burst forth.

For I am the rewarder of those who love me.

Oh my child, be strong, be of great courage and draw into my secret place.
For it is as you humble yourself amidst all your pain, it is in the crucible of all that seems to count so much, that truly you are crucified with me.

And so beloved child, in this place, do not be dismayed at all that surrounds you in this present time.
But rejoice in that the KING is your great right hand and know that if you worship me and me alone, i shall bring you forth in season.

For you know greatly beloved, that to wait for my approval, to seek my recognition, that the way of death to selfishness is the only way to eternal life in my kingdom.

So please be strong beloved, for I will NEVER fail you or forsake you, for surely you are in the furnace of affliction and you have touched the heart of the father.

Oh my child how I yearn for you, and beloved this day I would reach out my arms and call you gently, oh so gently, to console you.
And how my heart grieves for you beloved.

Because beloved, when you are so weak and vulnerable but relying on me, then you are made truly strong.
For your weakness is precious to me.

Disentangle yourself from all that is inside you and all that surrounds you into my hands.
Give your life to me beloved and you shall gain that higher thing which is peace and life and communion with me.

For beloved I know that you are weary, I see you so worn down with the pressures of each day, almost that you have lost sight of my hand apon your life.

And dearly beloved, as you enter this last age, so shall the pressures increase and your need for me will become more desperate.
For you see my love, without me you are nothing.

Apart from me you are able to do nothing, in your own strength you will be continually frustrated.
For it is only in a vital communion with me that in these endtimes you will be able to survive.

For you see MY LOVE, I have called you to abide in me.
The Father and I seek for those in whom we can live.
We seek those that hunger for our fellowship.
And through these ones that thirst for us, so will come greater miracles, greater healings and greater exploits that has ever yet been released apon the earth.

So come my child, you who are weary, come to me, come.
For I am your rest, your refreshing, your annointing, your ALL.

You see you are the reason I died, you are the one I love.

Come, come to me I implore you, come to me and I will set you free, that even your end days may be more radiant than the beggining.

Come, draw away from the lies and snares of the evil one.

My precious child come home to me.
For I have watched you battle with your mind and your thoughts.

And as you weep before me, surely my great mercies and compassions will overshadow you.

My blood will cleanse you from all sin

And so like Lazarus you shall come forth.

And you shall lift your hands to heaven and rejoice over the great victory over the hosts of hell who were once your master, for my love surely nothing can separate you from my unceasing love.
------------
I'm not expecting this to give you answers but I hope it bring some comfort to you in this difficult time

Praying for you

HI there!

I am sorry to hear about your loss. One of my dogs has an allergy to particualar grasses and to stings, so I know the helpless feeling in seeing their distress. Fortunately, because he's been through it before, I have medicine to administer immediately should he be stung again.

You asked where Smush is, and I could be kind and encouraging and post something very positive, but the truth is.... Smush's body will return to the life cycle of earth. The difference between animals and mankind is that animals are body and spirit, but man is body, spirit and soul. It is our soul that makes us immortal, to live in the afterlife.

This type of question always opens up a discussion on the spirit/soul issues of Christianity, and you will receive a diversified response, but the entirity of the text of the Bible, taken in context, does not show that animal life is immortal.

Why would he not answer my prayer?

God doesn't hear the prayers of people with unrepentent sins.. Even for the Christian who has the relationship with God that is eternal, if there is sin in their life, it will affect the fellowship with God, that fellowship is the communications with God, or prayers.

for example....
Isa 1:15 When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.

and even for the Christian, prayers can be "hindered" by not living as God directs us to live...

1Pe 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

Or as in the book of Daniel, the prayers are not answered for a time because of the spiritual warfare that exists... In Daniel chapter 9, Daniel's prayer is answered by the time that he finishes saying the words, but in Daniel Chapter 10, the answer to prayer was delayed by satan.

I would encourage you to continue to seek out God and learn all that you can about Him... but I would also encourage you to seek a reconciliation to God through the acceptance of Jesus Christ as your personal savior.

Again, I am so sorry about your loss, but it is also a time for you to grow spiritually.

I'm so sorry about your little dog. My cat is like my child and I can only imagine how I would feel if the same thing happened to her.
There are just some things I have no idea how to answer...and your question is one of them. I just don't know. There is no scripture in the Bible that clearly addresses your issue about where Smush is.
I do pray that the Lord will bring you peace and that you will hold onto His outreached hand.

aimless, i saw your post in pet forums and came over here to say how sorry i am. i actually believe animals are in heaven, and there is a thread somewhere in pet forum that addresses that. i'm very sorry for your loss, and pray that God will comfort you. it's not stupid to have a spiritual crisis over something so sad, we often turn to God in times like these. smush was very important to you, and you can be sure he is important to God, smush was in your life as part of God's plan for you. ((((aimless))))

Sorry about your dog, I lost one last year. I don't believe there is any Biblical evidence for animals having souls, that they would go to heaven or hell. But God may re-create Smush for you and my dog for me in heaven, depending on how He runs the place.

Johah 4:10 Then the LORD said, "You feel sorry about the plant, though you did nothering to put it there. and a plant is only, at best, short lived. But Nineveh has more than 120,000 people living in spiritual darkness, not to mention all the :holy: animals.:holy: Shouldn't I feel sorry for such a great city?"

Hi aimless Jesus even cares about the sparrow that falls to the ground.
I believe there will be animals after all Jesus will be coming to earth on a horse.
We will have the desires of our heart.
I can't imagine no animals.
There was Adam in the Garden and there were animals.
Also the scriptures speak that everything that has breath will praise the lord.
Animals have breath.
I want to tell you how sorry I am I have small dogs too and I can't imagine the pain you feel.
I will write more later but I do believe animals are in heaven.
I believe it will be the animals we had here on earth.
I will get scriptures for you tomorrow.
I will be praying for you.

I found this website very helpful -- it lists scriptural evidence that points to animals being in heaven. If you write to them, they can go into even more detail for you. http://www.ourchurch.com/member/w/w_lasalle/

It is NOT stupid first of all. *hugs* We grow to love our animals, and in many cases animals help us through hard times. They are very devoted, loving creatures, and I believe they are rewarded for that by God. He rewards us for devotion to our fellow man, so why not animals?

You know in your heart that Smush loves you, right? And you know in your heart that God loves you too? Well, think about it....if God IS the personification of love, if God is comprised of pure love....then does it even make sense that an expression of his love for us could ever die? We are all expressions of his love, animals too. You can see that whenever you look in their eyes.

Alot of people may think it's silly or "selfish", but it is not at all selfish to care about the welfare of someone you love. You want assurance that your dog is o.k. for your dog's sake as much as for your own. That's wonderful, that's loving, that's from God.

And at the very least, God will do what it takes to make you happy in the end. And if that means Smush is going to be waiting for you when it's your turn, why wouldn't he make it so? he can do whatever he wants. :) If you believe in NDE's, people have been met by their pets.

Anyway: don't you think that God is as delighted by their devotion, personality and adorable antics as we are? I think they are rewarded for their love to us.

I hope this helps!

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. :( We get so attached to our animal friends that they become a part of the family.

I don't know whether we'll see our 'companions' in heaven. The Bible says that God is aware when even a sparrow falls, so I think it's very possible we'll be reunited with our pets when we die. I sure hope so. It's all in God's hands though.

My prayer for you is that you'll come to know God a little better through these sad times.

Isa 65:25 5 The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent's food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain," says the LORD.
That sounds wonderfully PEACEFUL.

Thanks for all the help.
We'll be picking up Smush's ashes next Thursday and then looking into getting a statue or something. I'd like a black pug statue that I could sit in the yard out back where he used to sit and watch the squirrels.
Again, Thanks to everyone

I have had and lost many pets over the years. They are great examples of unconditional love and sacrifice. They are a personality and presence in our lives. To miss them and grieve for them is totally natural as far as I'm concerned. I am very sorry for your loss.

EMF, So sorry to hear about Smush. That's heart-wrenching.

This is not scientific or spiritual, but people with good after-death experiences that come back, report seeing animals in heaven. Whether their view of heaven was in their mind or real is not for me to decide.

Another experiential thought--any of you who have pets know that they have intelligence as well as a will. We are made in God's image, and they are not. God breathed life into us, which some consider our spirits.

There are verses in the psalms about all creation worshipping God, and the rocks crying out. From this, we could guess that they have an innocent no-decision about God state (although we know they're not always innocent!)

If God had wanted us to know where animals stand, and they did have the sin/no sin decision, we would obsess over it and try to "save" them all!

peace to you this week.
