One I think (after MUCH research) that I can answer...

A similitude is a type of parable that is a brief, concise, parable based off of things that are typical or recurrent or already accepted as fact/truth.

Although my research shows there are 12... I think the 2 that you are looking for are:

Luke 15:8-10 - The lost coin found (being like the sinner who is saved)
and
Mark 4:26-29 - the growing seed (the seed turning into ripe grain producing fruit similar to the kingdom of God).

BT, I think this one was harder than the last couple... I had never heard that there were different types of parables and the word similitude doesn't lead to parables in a google search.. no good defination for it on dictionary.com ect.

With that said.. I'm glad you put it out there.. it got me to do some digging and searching I would not have otherwise done and I learned something new.

Looking forward to more questions...

God Bless,
Carina

I think you are correct Carina, this one was way harder than I expected. I apologize to all of the younger Christians who've been banging their heads against the wall. I'm so glad that you spent time digging and that you've learned something new. This is the point of the question of the week!

Ok so now let me give the answer.

This is the definition:

INTERNATIONAL STANDARD BIBLE ENCYCLOPEDIA
Similitude:

In the King James version means either "an exact facsimilie", "likeness", or "the form itself"
_______________________________________________

This is one reason that I thought it would be so easy... because I found the exact definition in a Bible Encyclopedia. The other reason that I thought it was so easy was because I thought it was common knowledge. I was wrong, sorry. Finally another reason that I thought this was easy was because in my Bible the passage is headed "The Similitudes" .

Ok here are the Similitudes.

Matthew 5:13-14 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
(underline added)

Here we have the two similitudes that I was looking for, which directly follow the Beatitudes. It is the underlined portion that makes them similitudes by definition.

Once again I am sorry that this was was so hard. I promise that tomorrows question for the younger brethren will be a cake-walk.

To make ammends I will double the blessing reward for tomorrows question.
