Last weeks question was answered by OracleX and Red that's ME so they are not eligible for the question this week, unless by Wednesday I have no answer then it will open up again.

I want to make it a bit more beneficial to all so there will be two questions. One for the "younger" Christians, and one for the "older" christians though the younger christians are eligible to answer either or both.

Just want to add that these threads are for Anabaptist/Baptists please and thanks.

Question One (for the younger of our brethren)

Name the ten names of the Holy Spirit. There are 9 (or ten depending on one of them). Provide scripture reference.

Reward 100 blessings, to be given or divided depending on how many answers there are.

Hint: I'm not looking for Greek or Hebrew, English answers only! They are all in the Bible. Use the book don't lean on references etc. You'll learn more that way! Have fun!

Question Two (for the younger or older brethren)

What is the implication given during Christ's conversation with Paul on the Damascus Road, of Paul's current condition?

Reward 100 blessings, to be given or divided depending on how many answers there are.

Bonus Question (even OracleX and RED)

What is wrong with this word?

crhstos (Khrase-tos')

Reward: 50 blessings to the first correct answer.

Ok Happy Studying!!!!!!

Maybe I'm missing something here, but the answer to #2 seems too straightforward.

From Acts 9 (NIV):
[sup]3[/sup]As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. [sup]4[/sup]He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?"
[sup]5[/sup]"Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked.
[sup]6[/sup]"I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting," he replied. "Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do."

Since Jesus asked, "Why do you persecute me?", I can only assume that the answer to your question is that Saul was living as an enemy of God (despite being as righteous by the Law as any, as he describes in Philippians 3), because of his spiritual blindness (which makes his temporary physical blindness all the more meaningful). The Lord had to step in to change both and make Paul into the minister to the Gentiles he was intended to be.

Paul's life is SO full of lessons... :)

Nope
(I mean what you've said isn't necessarily wrong... just not the answer to the question).

Keep digging though!

2. Paul asked who was speaking. He didnt know the Shephard. He wanted to.

3. Jesus saying "why do you persecute me?" could lend one to believe that saul needed to wake up and realize he was persecuting Jesus-not just little ole' believers.

4. and he was 3 days without sight...maybe a significance in 3 days?

Acts 9
3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:
4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

This answer doesn't work in many paraphrase or minority-text versions, but here goes anyway:

Saul uses the term "Lord" at the end of his first. statement. His second statement begins with "Lord".

Goats kick against the goad. Sheep do not need either goads or fences.

It's interesting to note here that israel was prophesied to be blinded for three days... ;) And in both cases, it's as if "scales" were removed from their eyes..

And just like Israel,,, If the Lord would not have intervened, it would have lead to Saul's destruction... "It's hard to kick against the pricks"... :)

I'm not sure if this is what the OP was looking for,,, but it's interesting none the less. :)

Paul was already having an internal struggle, desiring to hold to the life and teachings he knew and was living. As a result, he continued to struggle to hold to those things, resisting the teachings of Christ ("kick[ing] against the pricks"), going so far as to persecute the early church.

Did I get it right this time? (Thanks to those who posted the KJV of Acts 9, if so!)

Ah! Sweet victory!

You've got it as close as it is going to get.

The key part of this verse is

Acts 9:5 "And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks."

There was an internal struggle within Paul. He was under the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Consider; another way to translate this last part is "it is hard for thee to kick against the goads". Now a goad was a long staff with an iron tip. It was used to "goad" or "prod" animals to get them to go into the direction that you wanted them to go. On occaision an animal who did not want to go would "kick his foot back" and get the soft part stabbed. This would cause considerable pain that would last for a time until the wound was healed.

There is no doubt that Paul a righteous Pharisee (according to the law) was affected by such events as sitting by and watching Stephen, who had the face of an angel, being brutally killed. This coupled with the Word of God that he was no doubt hearing by these early men who were persecuted, enacted the Word of God in his heart and persecuted him.

So his condition at this time was one of conviction by the Holy Spirit. If I were to paraphrase this verse I would make it, "it hurts you to resist what you know is true".

An amazing insight into the Damascus Road experience.

There was great participation from all. Congratulations to pressingon and all those who contributed and searched for the answer. Try again next week!

To pressingon 100 Blessings!
