I must assemble a group to perform this piece.

VERBINDUNG by Karlheinz Stockhausen (from Aus Den Sieben Tagen)

Play a vibration in the rhythm of your body
Play a vibration in the rhythm of your heart
Play a vibration in the rhythm of your breathing
Play a vibration in the rhythm of your thinking
Play a vibration in the rhythm of your intuition
Play a vibration in the rhythm of enlightenment
Play a vibration in the rhythm of the universe

Mix these vibrations freely

Leave enough silence between them

Here's another from Aus Den Sieben Tagen that my old group used to do fairly frequently...

ES (It)
Think Nothing
wait until it is absolutely still within you
when you have attained this
begin to play
as soon as you start to think, stop
and try to reattain
the state of Non-Thinking
then continue playing

im so confused...
The pieces are all laid out, all you need are performers and instruments and the ability to interpret the composer's instructions... :)

There's a great story about the rehearsals for the recording session of Verbindung, where a clarinetist asked Stockhausen:
"Herr Stockhausen, how will I know when I'm playing in the rhythm of the universe?"
The story goes that Stockhausen looked this clarinet player in the eye and said:
"I will tell you."

The annotations to this piece I've read indicate that the "rhythm of the universe" requires the performer to look at distances between stars in various constellations and break these down into rhythmic intervals. Seems open to interpretation, if you ask me...
