  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This passage intrigues me . . . .

I would like for your thoughts on this passage. What happened to those who once slept but went into the cities?

Mat 27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

Mat 27:52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

Mat 27:53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Jesus speaks of the resurrection many times in the gospels. The resurrection he speaks of is a resurrection of ALL people. For instance, John 5:28-29, "Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when ALL who are in the tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgement." Notice the usage of the word all. There is a passage in Daniel that speaks of a resurrection, but it is not a resurrection of ALL people, but of MANY people. Dan 12:2, "And MANY of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt." Daniel prophesied that MANY who have died would partake of that resurrection, while Christ says that ALL who have died will partake of the resurrection that he's talking about. Many and all are not the same things. But here in Matt 27 we find something interesting. There is a resurrection that took place in which "MANY of the bodies of the saints which slept arose." It is my belief that this resurrection is the fullfillment of that passage in Dan 12.

Hmmm? Thanks that does make sense. :pray:

Mat 27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
The veil of the temple seperated God from the people, now it this seperation was no longer there, all could come to God through Jesus Christ.

Mat 27:52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

This may have been those from Abraham's Bossom in Sheol who Christ took with him, or in part.

Mat 27:53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Same thing.

What do you think of 2 Corinthians 3:15? (3:7-18)

I love your quote from Glenn Fry and Don Henley. I've been considering quoting a line from the Eagles song The Last Resort for a while. I might get around to that this week.

The line is:

We satisfy our endless needs--
and justify our bloody deeds--
in the name of destiny--
and in the name of God

LOL!! I went nuts yesterday because I knew the song your quote came from, but my mind went blank. I kept meaning to get out my "The Very Best of the Eagles" CD to jog my memory. :D Now, if you had given the above quote, I wouldn't have had to give it a thought.

There's not an Eagle's song I don't know every word to. :angel:
