This past weekend, I had the opportunity to attend another farmers market in a different town with three others. Over two days, we shared the Gospel using "The Good Person Test" with flipcharts.
It was an incredible experience. I was able to share the Gospel with nearly 100 people, and 11 individuals made a decision to honour God. Among them was a mother and her daughter. The daughter appeared to be between 17 and 19 years old and was heavily pregnant. As they walked by, I invited them to take "The Good Person Test." The daughter declined and kept walking, but her mother stopped and wanted to try it. The daughter urged the mother to leave knowing that this was something to do with God, but the mother stayed and asked if she could try it. So, as I started the Good Person Test with the mother, the daughter came alongside and listened. In the end, I asked them, "So, when are you going to put your faith in Jesus and turn from your sins?" And the daughter instantly said "Now." And then the mother also agreed now was the time.
It was great to see someone who did not want to listen be changed instantly. Please pray for them.
I also spoke with five atheists who, by the end of our conversation, acknowledged that there must be a Creator—and that the God of the Bible is the most likely explanation. While they admitted they needed to investigate further, it was a step in the right direction.
The Builder and the Building
To help atheists see the necessity of a Creator, I use an argument based on simple logic:
"If you look at a building, you know without a doubt that there was a builder. No one would believe that a building simply fell together by itself and if I did say it fell together by itself you would think I am a fool. You can see order and design in it and so you know that there had to be a builder. Likewise, when we see a painting, we naturally know that there was a painter, even if that painter died centuries ago. We know that there was a painter.
In the same way, when we look at creation—the stars, the sun, the moon, the clouds, the flowers, the trees, and every living creature—you must say that, if the builder built the building, and the painter painted the painting, then the creator must have made creation.
Then, take something as simple as a leaf. Though it may seem small and ordinary, it has a design and complexity that surpasses anything man can create. Despite all our technological advancements, we have yet to make even a single leaf that functions like the real thing. If it is absurd to suggest that a building randomly assembled itself, how much more impossible is it for something as intricate as a leaf—or all of creation—to come into existence by chance?"
At this point, most atheists will say that there had to be a creator but who is he? How do we know which God? Is it the god of Islam, the God of the Bible or some other God?
Prophecy: Evidence of Divine Inspiration
From there, I use biblical prophecy to demonstrate that the Bible is divinely inspired. I ask:
"What if I wrote down over 300 prophecies about future events, and every single one of them came true with perfect accuracy? You would recognize something extraordinary was happening. No human can predict the future with such precision.
That’s exactly what we see in the Bible. The Old Testament contains over 300 prophecies that were fulfilled in the life of Jesus Christ. These include details such as His birth in Bethlehem, His title as a Nazarene, His betrayal for 30 pieces of silver, the division of His garments, and even His crucifixion with nail-pierced hands and feet. Most importantly, it foretells that He would die for the sins of the world. No other book—not even the Quran—has this level of prophetic accuracy. The Bible stands alone as the divinely inspired Word of God. So, we need to take note of what it says."
This approach has been incredibly effective in planting seeds of truth and pointing people to Christ.
