I'm sorry, I just cant believe some of the members of this "christian" forum. Not only are there numerous threads debating how great God thinks homosexual sex is, there are also threads debating whether sex before marriage is even a sin.

Jesus said to deny yourself and take up your cross...not if it feels good, do it!

The rich man turned around and walked off because he wanted eternal life, but he wasnt willing to follow Jesus. Some on this forum want it both ways. I can accept His gift of eternal life, and still not follow Him.

It's a sad day when a "christian" forum has debates about homosexuality and premarital sex.

There are PLENTY of Churches that have different beliefs that you do. That is why we have different Churches all over the place. I know of at least 4,000 gay and lesbian affirming Churches.

People believe differently, it is part of tolerance.
I believe there isn't even a debate against homosexuality, being gay or lesbian, is just the way people are! the doctrine is false, so I see the Bible differently than you.

Pathetic to have different beliefs? Maybe to another your beliefs are pathetic too, we live in a Democracy.

3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
2 Timothy 4:3-4

You have not proved that your findings are TRUE doctrine on any sense of the Word! Post some findings of the original Hebrew and Greek, and we might actually have a meaningful debate.

I persoanlly think we live the Christian life by grace not by law. Grace is about loving not obeying some list of don'ts as I understand. This is why Jesus and the Pharisees butted heads. The Pharisees had a long list of rules. Then Paul and the Jewdizers shows us the same conflict continued even into the church age. These that wanted rules to define our actions became so influential that Paul says to Timothy at the end of his life that all Asia had forsaken him. So the strong in faith realize that its not this physical thing or that that measures if we are pure and holy. Its is my heart full of the love of God. That's how I understand the message of the NT.

What is my cross? Its keeping Jesus first in my heart. Its loving my neighbor. My study of sex yeilds me to see it as not using sex to hurt people. Not based on do not touch someones skin.

Rom.14:14 I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean in itself; still, it is unclean to the one who considers it unclean.

There are clearly different views on certain issues on CF- isn't it better to discuss them openly, than to tell people what they should believe? Because if somebody believes something just because they've been told to by another person, it's not worth as much as when you've thought for yourself.

It has been discussed openly, they see the verses saying that homosexual sex and premarital sex is sin, and then they try to twist the verses and reinterpret words, and make complicated explanations for other verses. They dont want to know the truth.

OK, but what do you suggest by way of alternative? That they're not allowed to disagree with you? The problem is that every side in every debate thinks they already know the truth, and that the other side should come to know that truth.

Well, there's where you messed up. It's not about what you think, it's about what God said in His Word.

And here, ladies and gentlemen, we have modernism rearing its ugly head again. Don't berate people simply because they recognize there is a bit of "self" in understanding scripture. Far too often, people take their theological understanding to be identical with God's. "Don't argue with me - it's right there in the Bible. Your argument is not with me but with God." Sound familiar? I'm sorry, but I really don't think anyone is going to get a 100% on their theological report cards when they get to Heaven.

Don't be so quick to disregard reader-response in understanding scripture. You'll soon find yourself deaf to God's voice and blind to the truth, having limited yourself only to your own presuppositions, mistaking your own thoughts for those of God and unwilling to consider otherwise.

What I suggest is what the Bible suggests, and that is do everything in my power to turn him/her from the error of their way, even if it takes rebuking....

God is not the head of a democracy. He doesn't care what we think. He does not govern the universe by how we think. And, boy, am I ever glad of that! :D

He doesn't care what we think.
Really? Then why make us able to reason? He could have made us like the rocks or all the plants and animals but He didn't. I'm reminded of a quote:
Galileo Galilei said:
I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect, had intended for us to forgo their use.
