  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

A friend forwarded me this email today... I don't know the original author...it's probably a common forward or something but I think it's really good. This is it...this is what we single people need to continuously remember. Hope this is encouraging to you all.

Everyone longs to give themselves to someone, to have a deep soul relationship with another, to be loved thoroughly by another. But God, to the Christian says, "no" Not until you are satisfied and fulfilled and content with being loved by Me alone; with giving yourself totally and unreservedly to me alone. I love you, my child. And until you discover that only in me is your satisfaction to be found, you will not be able or capable for the perfect human relationship that I have planned for you. You will never be united with another until you are united with Me; exclusive of any other desires or longings. I want you to stop wishing and allow me to give you the most thrilling plan existing; one that you cannot even imagine. I want you to do this and just keep watching Me, expecting the greatest of things; keep experiencing the satisfaction that I am. Keep listening and learning the things that I tell you. You just wait; that is all.

Don't worry, don't be anxious. Don't look around at the things others have, the things I gave them. Don't look at the things you think you want. Just keep looking off this way, to Me, or you'll miss the things I want to show you.

And then, when you are ready, I'll surprise you with a love far more wonderful than you would have ever dreamed. You see, until the one I have found for you is ready - and I am working even this minute to have both of you ready at the same time. Until you are both satisfied with Me and the life that I have for you, you won't be able to experience the love that exemplifies your relationship with Me, and this perfect love. And dear one, I want you to have this most wonderful love. I want you to enjoy - in flesh, a picture of your wonderful relationship with Me, and to enjoy materially and correctly the everlasting union of beauty, love, and perfection that I offer with Myself. Know that I love you utterly I am GOD ALMIGHTY. Believe it and be satisfied .

I totally believe we must all be truly content in God's awesome love...

Then and only then may we be able to experience true love with another.

I almost posted a similiar response... not to go into too much detail, but I believe the point of the statement is definitely valid. We must focus on God first and trust that He has a plan for each of us. However, not all our called to be married. I Cor. 7 says that it is better to remain unmarried since it allows for your focus on God to be undivided. It also goes on to say that getting married, however, is not a sin.

I, personally, feel that God has called me to be a loving husband and father; but only He knows for sure.

I believe this has been posted here before, but it's always good to read it again.

And you're right, Singing Bush. As far as I know, there doesn't seem to be anywhere in the Bible that states that all who want a spouse has one specifically chosen for them. The original post implies that, but I feel the importance of it lies more in choosing God first. Then one's life can be better fulfilled, even if they may not receive what they think they've always wanted.

This could lead me to my untimely demise, but what makes everyone think God specifically has someone picked out for them? Is it in the Scripture somewhere or what?

Please don't hurt me... :sorry:

I guess that would depend on what your views are regarding freewill and predestination. If you hold to the predestination camp, then I would say that yes, there is someone because that is God's will and plan. (one could also point to our inner desire and human nature to find "the one" as additional argument for this)

But on the other side of the coin, there are at last 6 billion people in the world right now, and about half of that is the opposite gender. Chances are, it could be anyone, and God might have 5 or 6 people who are "maybes", and God just happens to put them into our lives to see how we would react, and what we would choose.

And yes, I also see the statement of being called to celibacy as another option that is there as well. It's also mentioned in Jeremiah 15 that he was explicitly called to celibacy by God... but I would have doubts as to whether or not this was easy for him, simply by the argument that the command is there from God. If there was no need for the command, it would not be there. So for that reason, my argument is that Jeremiah did have a pretty face in mind whom he likely wanted to marry, but couldn't because God told him, "No!"
