  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I can't download anything now... Doesn't supprise me.

Whenever I click on a link. Example, I wanted to download mozilla, clicked download, now in the left hand corner an icon shows a hard drive with a red arrow pointing down, or up I forget and all it says is "Downloading from site"

Before this happened a window used to pop up and I could download it like that.

What...The...Heck..Is...Going... ON?!

ES, I been looking around for some help on your problem... Stoner's reply in a thread on a site follows, and might help you

http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=67221

By default using IE, you should get a "File Download" window pop up giving you the option of Open, Save, Cancel, and More Info. As the two informative members suggested, you must've installed some kinda software that threw IE out of sync. Uninstall whatever download manager you have, get into Registry and clean out anything related to the download manager and try again. Go to MS, download IE6 and reinstall it if you have to. If all else fails, do a system file restore w/ your OS CD.

A picture of a hard drive with a red arrow is a download symbol. If it says downloading from site and it just sets their, I woudl say that (and this is from your text, I can't see your screen) that most likely the site is busy. Did you try another site? or a mirror site? However I am also bad with trying to pictures problems without seeing them. But that would be my suggestion

Electricstorm sent me a picture of the bar he is talking about and it's the bottom bar on IE from what I see......He is also in the north east where we are getting slammed with snow so it's possible that his problem is weather related (a server down somewhere because of a power outage or disruption to the internet).....It appears that it's a problem with his ISP though.....give it a couple days and see if things change before taking any drastic action (unless u decided to do that full install which wouldn't hurt, at least u'd be running a clean system again :) )

I managed to fix the problem last night around nine. I beleive it had to do allot with spyware on my computer and I was getting sick of it being so slow so I decided to do a clean install of XP, did it and everything runs better now, the problem with the hard drive and red arrow was fixed and yes I did try tons of sites but it kept happening over and over again... ARGH.

I deleted everything from my hard drive and reinstalled the programs I wanted and didn't the ones that I didn't use, this seemed to help my system run faster and everything.

Plus, the snow wasn't helping much either, I didn't even think about that untill Doofus reminded me. :o

Thanks guys for your help!

Hey Electricstorm,

I know people will yell at me for telling you this, but I have Norton Systemworks 2003 and Norton Internet Security 2003 on my 2.2ghz celeron 768mb ram XP Pro system and I don't have any problems with them. Some people say it's a memory hog and everything, but I'll swear by both software packages and the speed difference on my system is not noticable.......May I suggest that you purchase them (www.saveateagle.com) and install them on your system while it's still clean.....I don't get any of the spyware stuff on my computer and if I do the firewall alerts me and I can block it and I don't have any other problems.......

(edited: I didn't realize I said cr** so I changed it to stuff, lol)
