  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The same misguided soul that tried to get God out of the Pledge of Allegiance is now trying to ban all religious activites from the upcoming Presidential inaguration.

http://www.insightmag.com/news/2005....Ban.Bible.During.Inaugural.Oath-834074.shtml

""It is an offense of the highest magnitude that the leader of our nation - while swearing to uphold the Constitution - publicly violates that very document upon taking his oath of office," Mr. Newdow wrote in his Dec. 17 filing."

Um...no, the Constitution does not say that we must ban religion, as much as you would like it to do so, and no, the Founding Fathers were not atheists.

Mr. Newdow is a licensed minister of atheism, though he says he and members of his Internet church worship nobody. He says church members instead encourage a way of thinking.

Maybe he should stop imposing his "way of thinking" and his "worship of Nobody" upon the rest of us. His religion might make millions upon millions of Americans feel like "outsiders".

Judge denies atheist's lawsuit to prevent prayer at Bush inauguration
Friday, January 14, 2005 Posted: 4:52 PM EST (2152 GMT)

WASHINGTON (AP) -- An atheist who tried to remove "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance lost a bid Friday to bar the saying of a Christian prayer at President Bush's inauguration.

I pray this will end it.

Doesn't the US currency have "In God We Trust" printed on it? Or has he already tried to have that removed too?

Being such a strong athiest, one must therefore assume that he doesn't use money, because of it's religious affiliation.

I'm sure that is on the "hit list" of the atheist movement.

He says that Bush violates the Constitution by having a PRayer at the inagural..... YEst, the Constitution itself dictates that the oath should say: "So help me GOD"

He wants that gone too. All mention of any God or deity, and any religious books etc.

I'm hoping the higher courts will refuse to hear his case.

Why should the rest of us have to purge all religious references from our public events just to please fools like this? We have freedom of religion, not freedom FROM religion. Nobody has the right to dictate everyone else's words in order to not be offended. Nobody is making this guy pray or forcing him to do anything. Consequently, this knucklehead should not have the right to impose his atheist views on everybody else. Freedom isn't for wimps. If he's too terrified of hearing opposing views in public and wants to enjoy the fruits of atheism in an atmosphere free from any dissent, he might give North Korea a try...
