This board.. ever consider Invision or phpBB?

No offense, vBulletin works and everything, but I've found it to be a bit outdated when it comes to forum software... It's fine for a board with, say, around 200 users.. but after that it gets a little chunky.

phpBB works better for the mid-range 200-1500. But Invision handles large mysql tables very professionally. Still fast for thousands of users.

I've noticed a several-second delay when posting here. Shrug. Time to update to the better product?

Erwin is paying for this out of his own pocket. Donations don't cover a whole lot of it at the moment.

i'd say it really depends on where you place the board. phpBB has users over 57219 and runs like a charm. It depends on the Host. Whether its a good system and oh definately the line. If you get a good dedicated host with Dual cpu's plus a gig or more in RAM and have it hooked to OC then you'll be running pretty good. just a thought.

phpBB is free, unlike vB. Tons of mods. I use phpBB on my forum (see sig). It also handles users from 1k-50k very easily. Like pinpoint said, it depends on your webhost...
