Australia does have some beautiful places. That is why my wife and I got married outdoors. I mean why in a country so beautiful would one want to get married inside. i don't understand. Oh yeah thats right some churches have this stupid rule that you must be married in a church building! In a roundabout way I'm just saying plenty of people don't appreciate the beauty of this country.

For us, it came down to a decision between England and Australia, which would you rather live in?
Australia for me although the racism is starting to show again with the refugee issue with (as one commentator put it) both political parties racing each other to the bottom. I guess there are alot of aussies who feel they deserve special treatment simply because they had the pure luck of being born here instead of another country.

You're an Englishman here: that fact itself answers the question

The beer just isn't warm enough!

South West WA is god's own country. isolation, beautiful countryside and most importantly powerful ocean swells.. I couldn't live anywhere else.

When the beer is this bad it needs to be near-frozen so that nobody has to taste it.

Haha, yeah, I was expecting that and I agree. I'm a real beer snob myself, although I find that even the nicest stouts and ales are best enjoyed at a rather cold temperature. Not at room temperature

That's something I can't comment on. I've not had any grog since 1986
Fair enough, but Australian beer in an Australian pub is to English beer in an English pub as a McFlurry in McDonalds is to real food in an ambient restaraunt.

that's not completely true. Tried Little Creatures? James Squire's Golden Ale, Amber Ale? Coopers, even? They're becoming increasingly available and are as good as any of the big english, or international brands.
I was speaking of mainstream brands. Coopers and some of the boutique breweries aren't bad, but they need comparing with family and micro-breweries in the UK, compared to which they are neither as widely available nor as good. SA does marginally better, with Coopers on tap pretty much everywhere.

international brands
International brands of beer are almost universally poor to gnats....

Thank goodness it's Saturday today. I'm considering going off alcohol, I feel awful. Course, I say that all the time and still drink.

I used to swear off alcohol every weekend, but now an unbelievable alcohol tolerance (even if I wanted to get drunk, I can't, short of bottle and a bit of vodka, heaps of beer etc) and a habit of drinking lots of water before bed has pretty much eliminated the hangover for me

Surely it has some effect?
Why do you drink then?
