• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

30 year smoker,

For the umpteenth time. (literally a dozen or more)

Want a support group this time.

Will need lots of prayer and support.

Can we do that here?

Trying Zyban again for the 3rd time in my life.
(Chantix makes me dangerous)

Will be setting a quit date and making a list once the meds start to kick in.

Going on a road trip this Sat for 9 days. Don't know if I should wait till after or make that my quit date, whata ya think? Too soon or no?

Biggest triggers are being around smokers and driving and eating and waking up. Oh yea and STRESS! Man am I weak!

Realistically, strengthening your will power will be a better weapon to combat smoking than praying and putting your faith in God, rather than yourself, could ever be.

Get lollipops. Left right and centre. Try an' replace f ags (I'm not swearing, using that word in that context isn't profanity.) with 'em. If you smoke tailor-mades, switch to rollies, that way, even if you take ages to quit, you'll still be smoking significantly less. 'Sides, rolling tobacco doesn't have half of the chemicals they throw into tailored cigarettes.

Good luck with it, man, the first week or so's always the hardest.

Hey there! How is it going? Have you done your road trip yet? Let us know how it is going and if you need any support PM me or just keep adding here. I would like to help as much as possible.

Here are my stats -

Quit date - 4 March 2006

Start date - Somewhere in 1995

Years smoking - 11

Still smoking - no, successfully quit

Quit method - Cold Turkey

Quit attempts - too many. Tried gum (too nasty), read books, came here for spport, prayed and finally made it.

Best thing about being quit - no more yellow fingers! yay! Oh and not having to carry them around, pay for them etc and can breath easier now.

Cool! I hope and pray that has been a good trip. Let us know on how your quit is going!

God bless

Way to much stress during the trip. Back to square one. My resolve is WEAK. Need to look at the calendar. There are always a million excuses.

Started the Zyban again. On day two. Need to give it a couple weeks to work and up the dosage. (Starts low) Will get the calendar ou to pick a quit date and make a list of reasons to quit next week. Stay tuned.
