And the predominant percentage of pedophiliac offenders are heterosexual. So are we to conclude that heterosexuality is a sin?

I have never seen that statement…perhaps you could cite a link for me.
What I have seen is statements regarding the nature and origin of anti-gay discrimination and I must agree that the origin for such discrimination is indeed prejudice. Sadly, many try to disguise or hide that prejudice by misuse of scripture.

I am not blind to your comments or how you often claim to not be or engage in prejudice yet turn around and endorse that very thing.

I never said people have never used the bible to attack minorities, i've never denied that prejudice and hate do not exist in our world. One can use scripture to justify just about anything, doesn't make it right.

You have ignored the point entirely.

Your use of scripture to justify your own prejudice against homosexuals is no different than using scripture to justify prejudice against Jews, children, women, blacks, divorced people, convicts, religious reformers, the mentally ill and so on and so on. I would be nice to pretend that somehow you have the higher moral ground but to pretend so would be dishonest.



Now in this post you claimed that calling homosexuality a sin is not based on personal prejudice or bigotry it is, you claim, “nothing of the sort”
So tell me. When an individual sites scripture to call racial equality a sin what is that based upon?
You cannot say such a claim is based on personal prejudice or bigotry without demolishing your own higher moral pretences. To claim such is to claim a special privilege for yourself that you deny those doing exactly what you are doing.
You cannot say such a claim is based upon faulty biblical reading/scholarship without calling your own interpretations into scripture.
So what is the claim that racial equality is a sin based upon?

Oh yes. You quoted an attempt to justify prejudice by falsely denying that a minority is a minority. Can you explain why prejudice suddenly becomes moral if one denies minority status to those who are the targets of prejudice?

i am not opposed to equal rights for homosexual people. I believe all homosexual people should have the same civil rights and privileges as all other people, and I am fairly certain they do, at least in Australia. homosexual people are allowed to vote, they are allowed to own property, they are entitled to freedom of speech and freedom of association, they are allowed to drink and smoke in all the same places as straight people are, they can marry if they so wish, they can have children, they can go to the same churches, clubs, bars, &c. as straight people. they have the same legal 'right' to have sex with whomever they want whenever they want.

these are the kind of rights that were denied to black people. my mother was born not being allowed to vote because she is Aboriginal. her mother had to fall pregnant before they would allow her to marry because she was Aboriginal and her boyfriend was white. Aboriginal people were sent to jail for buying or drinking alcohol. even today, in many parts of Australia Aboriginal people are barred from bars & pubs and from buying or consuming alcohol solely on the basis of race.

the racial comparisons are completely invalid. show me one fundamental right that is allowed to heterosexual people that is not allowed to homosexual people.

what is being talked about are not rights for homosexual people or anyone treating homosexual people unequally. the real issue is the redefining of centuries old societal morality, re-evaluating the traditional interpretation of Christian and other religious texts which state that homosexual intercourse is immoral, and the redefinition of the age-old definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman.

Let's see we were given the Great Commission.

We are to preach the Gospel of God to everyone.

Romans 10:13-15

We are told that God is light and sin is darkness. If we don't confess and repent of our sins then we aren't cleansed or righteous.

1 John 1:5-10
5This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

So if we tell someone that their sins were placed on Jesus Christ, and He died on the cross covered in our sins so that His blood would cleanse us, making us righteous is this not what we are to do?

If we are ask what is a sin in God's eyes what are we to say, and how are we to prove what we say is true? Are we to show them in the word/Bible, but tell them that some of the things it says is wrong? If we do this than how can they believe any of it? How can they receive the truth if we say we don't know the truth because God wasn't able to keep His truth/word?

If I am to be like Christ how am I to quietly stand still and say nothing to those that lie, murderer, or commit any of the sins listed throughout the Bible? Even Jesus told them they must be born again, right? So I guess I would have to ask what am I to answer when like they say how can I be born again?


Eph. 5:1-17

We are told we are to walk as Jesus, in the scriptures above, which also speak of proving what is acceptable to the Lord. The scriptures speak of repoving those that don't walk according to His will, and they tell us to not walk as fools, but to be wise understanding what the will of the Lord is.

So can we not become wise as the scriptures say? Can we not know the will of the Lord or know what is acceptable to the Lord?

Love................what is love? Is it not when the heart aches for others? Is it not the desire, that just like God we don't want anyone to perish? If I am to love as Christ loves, then I must not be silent. How can that be seen as love if I turn my back on anyone, just because they want to call me a bigot, or any of the other names I have been called?

Or maybe it is time to go with the scriptures that say that if you tell someone the truth and they do not believe/receive it, then kick the dust off of your shoes and move on.

Still prayerfully considering if that is what the Lord's will is on this issue at this site.
