I don't know. Whenever I turn on the television and see these shows and comedians, it seems everyone's trying to be more tasteless than the other with the jokes they make. Basically, I feel that if you aren't trying to make light of this dude getting murdered, that female getting raped, or your ignorance of race, then you aren't going at comedy right.

Let's see. Take the George Lopez show for example. Yes, it's over now, but not by that many years at all. I laugh at the show from time to time, but after awhile, I just get annoyed with it because I feel some of stuff they try to get laughs out of is ridiculous. A daily issue in that show is the strained relationship between George and his mother. They're constantly trying to pull laughs from George's stories of an abusive and negligent mother and I'm sorry, but I can only pull so much humor from that.

Or South Park. This show used to be quite the guilty pleasure for me, but now, it just seems like it's trying to pull comedy out of the DARKEST things you could imagine. They now show people getting gruesomely murdered on the show more than ever and I get the feeling the creators believe it's the funniest thing ever, but it's just strange. Or that N-word episode, they had sometime ago. Not many people said anything about it, but I felt like it was the most tasteless thing I'd ever seen. It was even more disheartening to talk to my fellow peers of color and see that they found no offense done in it.

Or it's just people outside the television to. Sometimes I visit another forum and they have news stories posted of some pretty bad crimes. The crime themselves are bad, but it's just even more unbelievable when someone has to try make a joke. For example, there was one story posted of a teenager who shot both his parents over an xbox game. I found it disturbing to read that boy told his unsuspecting parents to close their eyes, but it got to me even more when many posters in the story's thread tried to make a joke out of it.

It's things like this that make me respect the more family orientated comedians out there SO much more. Those Blue Collar Comedy (minus Ron White) guys and people like Bill Cosby, or even Kevin James stick out a lot to me in that respect. I was even more surprised to discover christian comedians exist and they're actually quite funny to.

Sorry, this is just something I always wanted to write about.

I could list many more examples, but this is the first that comes to mind

Yea, but this is just been bothering me for awhile.

If you are talking about TV comedies, I don't think it's dead. In fact, I asked for the two seasons of F Troop for Christmas and we've been watching it at home and both of my girls (ages 17 and 19) come in to watch when I am and they laugh at all the usual silly stuff they should be laughing at so they 'get it' and we are talking black and white TV no less. 1965. they enjoy the campy silliness of Lost in Space which I also have. The Addams Family. The Munsters. Heck, they don't need the tasteless garbage of today. None of us is hooked on a sitcom (though my 17 year old and I do enjoy The Big Bang Theory).
