Speaking of which, anyone know of one in the Orlando area they can recommend?

How close are you to Oviedo? St. Luke's in Oviedo has a more liturgical service compared to many in Florida-Georgia district. You'll have to check their service schedule. St. Luke's is in the great SELC district!

Maybe it's just because I love music, but I like traditional as well as contemporary services. I get the chance to perform more in traditional services. I like the contemporary services for my kids though. They can sing along with all the songs. I will say, our contemporary service is very well done though. The music is always appropriate.

We will be vacationing in central Florida the end of May, first of June. We will be staying in Orlando and visiting the surrounding area. How far that is from Oviedo, I don't really know. I do plan on checking the LCMS website for churches and checking out the websites of ones listed. Just thought if someone could recommend one, that would be wonderful.

I know, weird family, attending worship while on vacation. This trip is to look up long lost cousins and is also sort of a graduation gift for youngest son. (cousins not in the church, but who knows what may transpire while there)

Well, as the bride of Christ, the Church is feminine. It goes back to the Greek language and the word "ecclesia" which is a feminine word.
Yes, yes, but you miss the point about their worship of "her" before Christ.

Hey! My Mom used to go up to Kettering to the hospital up there. She works for a mobile ultrasound company and did all of the ultrasounds for the hospital!

Kettering isn't all that far! *G* I'm about 30 miles east of Cincinnati in Clermont County.

You're not weird!!! I like to do that as well...when I travel that is.

On Maunday Thursday we had a family that was traveling from Saginaw to somewhere in Texas stop in and worship with us before moving on later that night. It was really neat.

We get plenty of visitors stopping in to worship along their travels. A couple from Virginia even stayed for Sunday School a couple of weeks ago. We're all so familiar and relaxed with one another that I think they were a bit unsure of us going from a traditional liturgical service to darn near throwing paper wads at one another and passing cheesecake afterward in class. Doesn't everyone do that?

I've e-mailed the Reverend of the ELCE church in Cambridge to make sure I can commune with them while I'm there, so you are not weird at all to look for services while away from home. I'm really anxious to see what kind of service they hold there. All of their references point to LCMS.org so the liturgy will likely feel just like home.

I found this: http://www.lcms.org/pages/internal.asp?NavID=6268

The ELCE is a partner church of the LCMS.

My daughter always communicates with our partner churches when she is getting ready for an extended stay abroad. She managed to find a place in Spain. One of our partner churches has missions in Spain.

Yes, I know, but I don't like to assume that a pastor knows I'm a communicant member. It's only courteous to contact them beforehand if possible and not knowing what his schedule might be (it is the Lutheran Seminary of England), I figured it was easier to e-mail him before I leave here.

I've been listening to his sermons online for a while now. They're certainly shorter than we're used to, but very, very good.

Look where I get to go, Lamb.

I'm so excited about all the sites I'll get to see, but it's going to be a packed itinerary. Going to church there is very important to me and thankfully, that sank in to my host who seems intent on making sure I get there.
