If you can count to seven, you can understand the Revelation. For years I have been noticing how things are organized in certain books in groups of seven, particularly the book of the Revelation. Checks this out, three main sections, the first one focuses on the Church and the seals. The second group focuses on the Trumpets and the Beast and the final 7 focuses on the vials of wrath and the parousia (appearing of Christ).
I have some thoughts on how this can be interpreted, hermetical principles, the Theology and of course eschatology (study of the end times). Right now I'm just interested in what you think about my outline. I call it a symmetrical index, I just like to organize things in even groups. It is especially easy to do this with books like Genesis and Matthew which I believe are of a strong Jewish character.
I won't be getting into that right away, just wanting to know what people think of my outline:
1) The Son of Man and the 7 Churches
2) Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira
3) Sardis, Philadelphia, Laodicia
4) 7-Fold Lamp Blazing Before the Throne
5) The Lamb worthy to open the Scroll
6) 4 Horsemen, S:5 Martyrs, S:6 Wrath
7) 144,000 and the Tribulation Saints
8) T:1 Trees, T:2 Sea, T:3 Water T:4 Sun
9) T:5 Locusts T:6 200 Million Soldiers
10) Rainbow Angel and the Little Book
11) Two Witnesses and T:7 Kingdom Come
12) The Red Dragon, 7 Heads and 10 Horns
13) The Mark of the Beast from the Sea
14) The Lamb and the Grapes of Wrath
15) The Sea of Glass and Vials of Wrath
16) Vials: 1.Sores; 2.Sea; 3.Water; 4.Sun 5.Throne 6. Euphrates 7.Air
17) Mystery Babylon and the Eight Kings
18) The Destruction of the Great City Babylon
19) The Marriage Supper and the Final Battle
20) The Dragon Bound and the Books are Opened
21) The New Creation and the Bride of Christ
22) The Eternal State
The Seven Fold Church:
1) Ephesus: Word kept /1st love left
2) Smyrna: The Beatitude Attitude
3) Pergamum: Sacrifice / Seduction
4) Thyatira: Great works/secret arts
5) Sardis: Looks lively / dead asleep
6) Philadelphia: A marathon ministry
7) Laodicea: Worldly rich/spiritual wretch
The Scroll with the 7 Seals:
S-1: White Horse Ruler with Crown and Bow
S-2: Red Horse rider with a Great Sword
S-3: Black Horse rider with Scale
S-4: Pale Rider, Death and Hell follow
S-5: Martyrs beneath the alter
S-6: Heaven and Earth cataclysms
S-7: Silence in Heaven for half an hour
Vials of Wrath:
V-1: Ugly painfull sores
V-2: Sea turns to blood
V-3: Water turns to blood
V-4: Sun Scorches the earth
V-5: Throne of the beast struck
V-6: Euphrates dried up
V-7: The city drinks God's wrath
Just to give you an idea why I like this approach, from chapter 11-14 would appear to be right in the middle of the 7 year tribulation. For 3 1/2 years the 2 witnesses preach, are finally killed and then resurrected. I'm pretty sure that chapter 13 indicates the abomination of desolation prophesied by Danial and expounded by Christ (Matthew 24:15)
This has led me to the conclusion that the rapture happens in the middle of the tribulation.
This isn't as far fetched as it may seem on the surface. The abomination of desolation happens and the last Trumpet sounds, the scene on earth focuses on the Beast and is followed by the vials of wrath that I think Christ is describing here.
What really intrigues me about this is that it puts the half way mark for the Tribulation in the center of the book of the Revelation.
Grace and peace,
Mark

His armed forces will rise up to desecrate the temple fortress and will abolish the daily sacrifice. Then they will set up the abomination that causes desolation. (Dan. 11:31)
This has led me to the conclusion that the rapture happens in the middle of the tribulation.
"When you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation,' spoken of through the prophet Daniel let the reader understand then let those in Judea flee to the mountains." (Matt. 24:2, 15-16 NIV)
This isn't as far fetched as it may seem on the surface. The abomination of desolation happens and the last Trumpet sounds, the scene on earth focuses on the Beast and is followed by the vials of wrath that I think Christ is describing here.
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (Matt 24:29-31)
What really intrigues me about this is that it puts the half way mark for the Tribulation in the center of the book of the Revelation.
