Concerning this salvation, the prohets .....
made careful search and inquiry .....
It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you,
in regard to the things that have now been announced to you ..... (1 Peter 1:10-12)
I write this to those us who are called to pray for the church. The prophets who learned about the salvation in Christ were in fact serving the future generation. So are we. We are serving the pure church that will come down from the heaven. Therefore, let us not lose our heart while we serve the present church with much corruption and blemishes, since we also are.
It is a great privilege to serve the church that we do not see, just as the old time prophets served us whom they didn't see. Even time cannot limit us in being united with the church of glory. Therefore, let us persevere in praying for the church.
God has appointed in the church
first apostles,
second prophets,
third teachers;
then deeds of power,
then gifts of healing,
forms of assistance,
forms of leadership,
various kinds of tongues. (1 Corinth. 12:28)
We are not apostles, nor prophets, nor teachers, nor doers of power, nor healers. We are no-title servants. At best, we are assisters. Therefore, let us not lift our heads above others.
Most of all, let us pray for one another in order not to lose our heart.
Lord, help us persevere in our assignment. Amen.
