  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So, recently my wife and I moved our daughter to a new "grade" in her daycare/preschool (they sort them out by age groupings - and she now belongs in the 3-4 age group).

My wife tells me last night that our daughter told her the other day that she's going to marry some kid inside of her class, and that she chased him down on the playground to give him a kiss.

So this morning I asked her about it, and said:

"You know, before you go around kissing any boys, you need to bring them home to meet me first."

She told me that it wasn't necessary, because he was a really nice boy.

Hmmmmmmm!

My husband said when he was 5, this little girl told him at the sandbox that she was gonna marry him someday and he was like "no! I don't want to get married. I'm gonna go play dinosaurs" and then he ran off to pretend to be a T-rex, but it only made her like him MORE.

lol - yep.

Last night she was asking me if we could have a slumber party and invite him. I told her that she's a few years out from having slumber parties, and when she does, it's going to be girls attending.

My Granddaughter came to our house Sunday and had a Beatles T-shirt on and said that she is going to marry Paul McCartney. WHAT!!!!

The Beatles are my generation and they came to America 50 YEARS AGO!!!
My granddaughter told us that she likes Paul even more than ONE DIRECTION (I had to look up One Direction in Wikipedia)

Later my son told me that he bought her ticket to Paul McCartney’s concert this year as a surprise for her birthday.

I suppose that the next thing she will want is to get a 57 Chevy and cruise Main Street like I did 45+ years ago. See my new avatar.

EZoo......it's not too early to begin the thought process that she's to become close friends FIRST with boys......and that she can't have too many close friends (and......you may as well add in, every now and then, that she wouldn't want to potentially ruin a good friendship by labeling it ;).)

Did you all see this story in the news recently? This Couple Married For 87 Years Shares Their Secrets To A Wonderful Life Together. (It’s Not What You Think) | Inspire52

We grew up together and were best friends before we married. A friend is for life; our marriage has lasted a lifetime.

Well, it looks like it might be forlorn anyhow...lol

She apparently fell for an older man - this one being ready for VPK instead of the 3-4 year old age grouping she's just progressed to. Just as she has progressed into this class - he was apparently getting ready to transition out of it and they simply hadn't opened the new class yet (which they did today).

My wife went with her this morning and asked the people there if the could introduce her to the little boy. They told my wife he had just moved into the VPK class today - and was no longer in there. Our daughter was apparently a little deflated by the news.

Ahhh - the first little heartbreak. lol

SD - Pretty funny about the Beatles stuff. I wonder how she's gonna react seeing 90 year old Paul instead of the Paul on the Beatles albums?

MkGal - I agree on one hand - but on the other - I wonder if it's still premature to start introducing those types of conversations into the mix. This kid was someone she apparently focused on for the past couple of days - but before that she was asking me if she could marry some kid on a YouTube "Just Dance" video. I'm thinking their minds just naturally wander too fluidly at this age to either really grasp what they're talking about - or view it inside of any meaningful way with respect to time... Dunno though?

lol - well our new one on the way is a boy.

I'm sure we'll be dealing with our fair share of issues with him, too...like at 12 years old gawking at his older sister's friends and stuff.

Well, you know what they say! If you have a son, you only have to worry about the one _____, but if you have a daughter, you have to worry about all the _____s.

(You fill in the blank yourself, I'm already in trouble in these parts. ^_^)

At least you could train that little man to kick some butt. Have a little back up if needed. :)

How old is she? Does she realize how OLD Paul M. is? LOL That is really, really cute.

Boys are the bomb!!!

As for gawking 12 year olds... my son (13 yrs old) came to me the other day to report that a girl was dressed "totally inappropriately" walking in front of our house. Apparently, she was in a bikini top and shorts. I laughed and said yeah, that's not an appropriate way to walk around town, but that's the kind of stuff you're going to see in the world! I'm glad that he at least has the conscience to know that it wasn't OK and he shouldn't chase her down and drool over her :D
