We know exactly how gravity works in the sense that we know its effects so well that we have been able to navigate probes to every planet, to many moons, a few asteroids and to the edge of the solar system. What we don't have is a solid theory that explains the cause of gravity.

As one travels along the curve of the earth, the vertical drop will increase steadily until the point of vertical tangency. A formula based upon the equation of a circle works much better ...

So, you think that creating a "snow Globe" terrarium, that is the size of this earth, with all the atoms, chemicals, biological creatures, flora, fauna, weather, physical laws... makes God "not very great"?

As far as I'm concerned, the earth, whatever the real shape of it... and all the dimensions that exist, that we cannot measure or see...is a realm of infinite wonders.

To me... if I was to try to make a comparison.. I would say that we are like a cut out flat character.. like they used to use in "flannel graphs" in Sunday School.... All we know is the dimension of a 3 foot by 2 foot board on an Isle... where we are stuck... Meanwhile, the reality is the vastness that exists in the one presenting the story on that board.. and yet.. beyond that.. the one who created the one doing the presenting.

The wonders of God's creations are beyond our finite mind's ability to imagine.

To me.. it matters not what the shape of this earth is... But.. I won't let people state things as fact... state things as absolute... when they are no more supported than the things that the FE is presenting.

The FE does not make God small.... It makes Him much closer and much more real and much more necessary.

You cannot teach a FE and evolution.
You cannot teach a FE and the big bang.
You cannot teach a FE and seeding by Alien races.
You cannot teach a FE without God.. the creator.

That is why I believe that this whole globe may just be the grand deception. I just have not got enough to say that it is real.

I do have enough to say that we are being lied to... constantly and deliberately.

PROOF the earth is a spinning globe: Sextant (navigation), night sky varies with latitude, slightly less gravity on the equator than on the poles due to centrifugal force, maps and distances. This is impossible in a flat earth model. No need for flying freemasons and their ambiguous video footage.

Man has concluded the earth is a globe long long ago.

Yes, it may be way bigger.. but.. there are too many solid observable, repeatable examples of the fact that "WE.... SEE...... TOO........ FAR.... for the earth to curve at 8 inches per mile squared.

This is true, sometimes.
BUt if you had done some proper research, you would have known this, especially over water, is due to air density
and thus refractive index differences causing light to bend along the curvature of the earth.
Close to the surface the air, especially over water, is the most dense.
every inch higher it is less dense.
This is just a fact of reality.
The effect on light rays is that they will be bent downward, following the curvature a little, because it's slowed down more in dense air than in less dense air.
Especially water vapour, close to water, makes air denser.
So optically the earth's surface may look flatter than it really is.

Do some digging.... people are using new high tech optics to see things that should be over the hill of the hump of the curve.

Indeed. 90° angle to the earth's surface things fall down when you let them go.
It falls towards the gravitational centre of the earth.
If it was a disc, things on the edge would fall towards the centre.
There is one other way to get gravitational pull.
That's when the earth's surface would accelerate upwards.
But that would mean that after a long time earth's surface would have reached "Ludicrous Speed" (reference to Space Balls).

The problem was... with a ball... down must be down on all parts of the ball... therefore... the earth must suck.. pull.. draw... the objects to it's center.

It's called gravity.
We can measure it, do experiments and the formula is F = m × g or g = F : m or m = F : g
Force (in Newtons) is Mass (in kilograms) times gravitational acceleration (meter per second squared).
It's the same formula as F = m x a.
Only a (acceleration) is called g when we're talking about gravity.
g is slightly lower on the equator though, due to the centrifugal force caused by the spinning of the globe.

FWIW, i have looked into this thing quite thoroughly, because in my Bible believing heart i actually prefer the Flat Earth idea.
Also i have learned that our modern day facts and truths aren't necessarily facts or truths.
So i put both models to the test.
Flat Earth fails.
Maps and distances don't work, horizons don't work, the night sky doesn't work either.
All the problems Flat Earth has are none existent in the globe model.
The globe model has no problems.

I'm not going to get into this argument. It is of no use... for distances of hundreds of miles.... it is practical and shows the rate of curve for arguments for the fact that we see things that we should not be able to see.

Let the math experts debate the rest..

Your attested to science/engineering background is failing you. The 8 inch per mile squared formulation is based on the equation of a parabola, rather than a circle ... and so, is only useful for 100 mile distances or less.

The globe-adherent users of this formulation are well aware of its limitations ...

The Coriolis effect is a myth. It was invented to explain the way storms move.. Fact is, on a FE the winds and their direction of spin, make more sense than on a globe.

I know I know.. the snipers..... right? I have listened to two or three experts talking about long range shots.. They talked about humidity, temperature, altitude, dust, wind, and the number of shots they have taken and barrel temperature. The temperature of the ammunition....

All these things.. but never Coriolis.

I pondered this for a bit and found that it makes sense..
Think about it.

A sniper shooting perfectly north would have different calculations than someone shooting south.. or west or east. Not only that but every significant range of degrees between these directions...

The earth only spins one way.. so..someone shooting and 200 degrees south west would have calculations significantly different than someone shooting 110 degrees south east. Or 120 degrees, or 180 degrees and so on....

I did see one video of a guy talking about this one topic and this one topic only... but.. to tell you the truth... he was not near as credible as the others that I viewed. Nor did he mention many of the things that the others mentioned, that would significantly affect the ballistics of the projectile'


Don't take my word for it though.. look into it and think about it.

This has been debated ad nausium... I have seen people go on for pages of posts..

However, if you go on any site.... they will give you inputs for the height of the viewer and distance of the object...
The answers. for all intents and purposes, will coincide with that simple formula... within a couple of significant figures.... sufficient for the arguments.

What is it that reverses the spinning vortex of storms from one side of the equator to the other ... if there is no spin.

That trees grow slightly twisted. Especially near the poles.
They follow the sun so the trunks are twisted.
And guess what: In the south of the equator they're twisted in the opposite direction.
