There is no excuse for sinning

I do not understand why the question of whether we can live a sinless life as a christian is of such interest to so many.

Surely the point is that we can aim to life a life without sin. We may indeed not attain this goal but that does not mean that we ought not to try, if we fall we have the Lord Jesus Christ to catch us just as he caught Peter when he began to sink after walking on the water.

It may well be impossible to live a sinless life, but does not our faith rest on the fact that God has already entered human history and achieved many impossible things for us, after all a man cannot walk on water but for a moment Peter actually did. With God all things are possible!

Hi NewToLife,

I guess that's why CF has so many different forums - some have an interest in the Trinity, some are interested in Soteriology, some are interested in fellowship, and many, many more topics...and some are interested in the topic of sin.

Our faith should defintitely rest on God and to trust that He has given us all that He has said He has given us...and I believe that making people aware of the victory that God has given us over sin can be benificial in one's walk with God.

I don't think you know what your talking about dude,All you have to do is get rid of your T.V.,Never Gossip,Always wash your hands after you go to the bathroom and before every meal before sitting down with anybody else.Never be sarcastic,Never Gossip,Always keep your eyes on the ground because looking up at people may cause you to lust.Never think of yourself better than anyone cause thats vanity.Try and not ever hurt anybodies feelings,Never allow any of your trash to fall to the ground.When you write something cool don't be so proud.Personaly I think Job was wrong because he was called rightous but he still thought of himself worthless as did Solomon when he said,All is vanity.Maybe there is somebody out there that doesn't sin,I have only met one person who claimed they didn't but I know that she didn't realize the truth cause I watched her sin.

She collected a whole bunch of money when a dude ran into the back of her car,If that isn't sinning,I don't know what is.She should have forgave him.

What makes me feel so guilty is thinking about all those starving kids out there and I paid a thousand bucks for this computer.I'm thinking I should try better and sell everything I own and give to the poor.

And then what? You won't have anything left to give. I prefer to (financially) give to church ministries, missionaries and personal charities whenever possible. This way I can continue to give to these ministries/charities on a regular basis for a long time.

Time is more valuable than money. If you really want to help out the poor, devote spending some time with them. Form relationships with them. This beats any Lincolns or Washingtons (Shekels?) you throw their way.

There is no excuse for sinning.

Pardon me? There are plenty of excuses for sinning, some good, some bad. If you read the Gospels you will see that Jesus was well aware that part of being human was the tendency to sin, or "mess up" as some call it.

Jesus came to show us a better way and he offers us help to avoid sin, but no-one will ever be totally free from sin this side of eternity.

Jesus also encourages us to go easy on other people who "mess up".

If we stop sinning why would he have encouraged his followers to ask Father God to "forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us"?

24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

Jesus wants the believer in Him to be free 24/7. If we rely on Him 24/7, abide in Him 24/7, walk after the Spirit 24/7, how will Jesus fail us?

You must be unique,it could happen.
You now in the bible after the day of Pentacost happened and all the sudden people went out healing,raising the dead because they had the holy spirit?

People were transported from 1 country to the next in a blink of an eye.
Everywhere Yeshuah and the desciples went,{ ALL} the sick were healed in an instant.People lined up the streets in multitudes and were healed right away.

I don't wanna offend anybody but why doesn't that seem to be the case anymore?
Alot of people will argure that miracles still happen and I agree but the only ones I see are in my personal life that if I told about,most people would think I'm loopy.

When you lay hands on people and pray,do they get healed right away?

I.M.H.O ,I don't believe we have access to the strength of the holy spirit as did the desciples.I believe that it will come back again one day.

Alot of people claim a strength but in my opinion ,it just aint the same as it was in the renewed Covenant.

When I look back over the last 20+ years that I have been a Christian I see that God has transformed me by the renewing of my mind and he has been gracious enough to help me become more like his Son, but I am a realist and I am honest with my self, and I know I still have a long way to go.

When I first learned French I was top of the class and thought I was very good at it. However, the more I learned the more I realised there was to learn.

The Christian life is like that, too. When we start and are enabled to desist from a few obvious sins we think we're doing great and may well be blind to the fact that we have become proud and arrogant. As we progress in our Christian faith and become more like Christ, we become aware of how much we still do that grieves our heavenly Father.

Can you in all honesty say that you no longer sin?

He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8, NRSV)

There is a difference between unintentional sin (

I cannot disagree with that statement. I am not sure why we do not see the miricles as the early church did but it sure seems different today. I do believe that the power is still available and that miricles are possible but we do not see what the early church saw.

Maybe the problem is with us!
