. . .and that I have gone for 17 years with a misdiagnoses of Tourette's Disorder, which is commonly associated with AS; my tics are so mild and have always been mild that they may not even warrant a diagnoses of Tourette's. Besides, I have and have had only certain kinds of tics that are typical of patients with AS.
I went to see my psychiatrist today after doing a lot of research on AS through the Internet and by checking out library books on the subject. Although, my psychiatrist has little experience with AS, I did explain to her that many of the symptoms and traits of AS describe me exactly in both my childhood and my adulthood. Everything just adds up; there is no reason for me to believe that it is not AS. She went over a checklist with me and basically said that she had just "diagnosed" me right then and there, but since of course she has little experience with AS, she suggested that I get a second opinion.
I will now be seeing my psychologist on April 16th and will get a chance to explain everything to him and likely in more detail because my visit with him will last longer.
Perhaps he has more knowledge and experience with AS patients than my psychiatrist does.
By the way, I first heard about AS right here on this very website, Christianforums.com! It sounded somewhat like me, so that's when I began to research it on the Internet; the rest is history. I believe that God may have finally led me to some answers. Thank you God and thank you Christianforums.com!

Please be praying for me. I am hoping that I do have AS and that I do get a diagnoses of AS because that means that I can finally have some peace with understanding myself better and can better accept myself just the way God made me!
