  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just found this site last night and hope I'm not being to forward by just throwing my ideas out. At my job I work alone all day so I have ruffly 8 hrs to contemplate questions and come up with my own theories to them. I realy have no idea how far fetched they might seem because no one I know is interested in my indever to step out of the acceptable area of thought.
I don't hold any degrees so forgive me if this sound a bit simple.

I definatly believe in two laws, a natural law and a spiritual law. In this natural law there are rules that cannot be broken or altered in any way. In Genesis 1:1 it says God created the heavens and Earth. Then in 1:2 it states "The Earth was without form and void". It is not until day and night are divided that the count of days starts. I see no time period that tells how long it took to create the heavens and Earth. What I do see is that no matter if you believe in the crashing of parallel universies or the Big Bang theory you still have to have a point at where an energy was introduced to put everything in motion.

I have also wondered if Adam and Eve existed on the same plane as we do. In 2Corinthians 12:2 there is mention of the third heaven. Is it to much of a leap to say that they might have existed on all planes until their departure from Eden?

I have also wondered about the atmosphere of a new formed Earth. When Adam and Eve were created their bodies would have been pure and not have the impurities as ours. The same could be said about the Earth. I believe most reports I have read say that humans could not live for hundreds of years but in the way I see a new Earth I belive they could. If anybody is good in chemistry maybe they could tell me how good or bad this theory is. What if at one time our ozone layer was instead an ice layer. It would the act as sort of a green house. I don't recall the mention of rain in the Bible before the Flood. I think it says something to the effect that all was watered from underground streams and moistier raising into the air. If my ice sheild theory is fiesable the wouldn't the air be O2 rich. There would be little cell break down. People live longer lizards grow larger, ect. Then say a huge space rock come crashing into the plant. The Earth gets shoved a 1/6 in. closer to the sun ice shield melts and it rains 40 day and nights.
I guess I'll stop there and find out how big of a nut ya'll think I am. And please be gential.

Welcome Gorilla, (Is that what silverback refers to?)

The Hebrew uses one word erets which is translated to English as world, earth, country, land, or field. Try rereading Gen. 1-11, substituting eac h those words one by one for all of the others. You'll find each option greatly changes the meaning.

As for your ice shield, how thick would it need to be? Can you see the sun, moon, and stars through that much ice? What would it do to the atmospheric pressure? What would it do to air temperature? How would such an unstable and fragile ice shell stay up?

The earth's orbit has a lot more variation than 1/6 inch. It is easier to vaporize the earth than it is to change it's orbit.

The kinetic energy from falling rain would heat the earth to above boiling.

This is the kind of feed back I have greatly desired. And yes the silverback does refer to the domainate male of the Gorilla "tribe". I was over stating when I said "ice shield". I'm one of those people who usually rely on drawings as a means of communication rather than words.A better way of expressing it...a thicker atmosphere mostly of oxygen kind of condenced, not realy having the layers of strat, ionis, and other shperes as we do now. And agian this might seem per-school but what would be the temp. of a new formed earth? Cool air+ New earth =??? I'm not sure, but I want to know. As for the impact and sun, I kind of got theatrical.

I am probably one of few that agree with you on this, except I believe the first ‘day’ started with the light (Gen. 1:3) before day and night were divided in Gen. 1:4.

I don’t think everything in the universe was created at the same ‘time’. I think all we can know is that God created everything and that Genesis is a narrative of what He did during the creation week relating to our planet, atmosphere and our solar system and moon.

Adam and Eve existed on the same plane as we do. In 2Corinthians 12:2 there is mention of the third heaven. Is it to much of a leap to say that they might have existed on all planes until their departure from Eden?
Yes, too much of a leap. I also don’t see why this would be needed for any creation model.

Our bodies already have the ability to repair themselves, and devoid of genetic errors and with good living conditions, I see no reason why pre-flood humans would not have lived hundreds of years. However, I don’t think our bodies were meant to live forever without eating from the tree of life.

What the Bible describes in Gen. 2:5 is the state of the creation before man was created, wherein God had not caused it to rain (yet). One can logically assume that since the mention of rain was linked to the creation of man, that once man was created and could “till the ground” that rain would have ensued. If you are linking rain to the presence of a rainbow, then consider that it rained at the beginning of the flood and the rainbow didn’t occur until everyone left the
Ark (Gen 9:13). All God did is set the rainbow in the clouds. It had nothing to do with whether or not there was rain.

It seems your last scenario is for two purposes: One, to show that the dinosaurs were merely large lizards that kept growing and two, a source of water for the global flood. My answer to the first one is: God created dinosaurs that lived with man from the beginning. Young dinosaurs were taken on the Ark and they had populations that scattered around the planet afterward. They eventually went extinct due to many factors such as lack of food, buried in catastrophic mud flows from unstable ground conditions, tsunamis, hurricanes, volcanoes, and climate changes (ice age) and even possibly asteroid impacts.

Next, for the source of the global flood: The fountains of the deep (mid-ocean ridges) opened up (as if the finger of God drew a line between continents creating heat) which in turn allowed water from the lithosphere (in which there is 10 times the amount of water contained in the oceans) to spew out like geysers into the atmosphere and rain down on earth. The heated oceans also expanded the water, and the combination covered the earth’s crust. After a relatively short period of time, the cooler waters then receded via the subduction zones in the crust, but not all of it. The sea level was actually some 400 feet lower than today. See www.genesistruth.org/documents/floodsource.pdf

Now you have something else to contemplate while at work.

Now this is getting good.(Robot voice)Need more input. Seriously, I appreciate the time you took to respond. And I also realize that I realy didn't stick to the point I was trying to get out. The Natural Law, how did this plant come to be through that system. Most people view "Creation" as some kind of trick,I snap my fingers and theres a universe. But I believe that everything was put into motion and the Natural Law with it. Heres where I run amuck. I see every physical miracle as falling into some Natural Law (I'm not really equiped to figure out the details) from the Creation,The Flood ,to the parting of The Red Sea -how did it happen. Its too simple to say its a miracle. Whats the Law that appearently was broken ,BUT COULDN"T HAVE BEEN.

I don't think we will ever understand all the forces from God. But, I don't think he erases evidence either. Such as:

1. If the planet was originally covered with water and then the land masses were brought above – there should be some evidence in the rock formations of this heat, energy and deformation. There might also be sediments without any biology that are trapped into the folds.

2. If the planet was flooded again during Noah’s time, then there should be massive sediments, buried organisms etc. If much of the water came from the fountains of the deep, then we should be able to see that and how the water retreated.

3. If all biology is told to be less than 7,000 years old (by genealogies), then no ‘accurate’ testing method should be able to contradict that.

4. Things like the parting of the see will probably not leave any evidence, and there may have been a wind force wherein the source may not have been natural but the physics were. You could also possibly find the actual path and how deep the water was and how that relates to the physical laws.

5. But, I like to keep in mind that the origin of LIFE itself goes against natural laws and is truly a miracle from God! That may be too simple, but I believe it to be true.
