The wolf in sheep's clothing, and why they are so dangerous.

"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." Matthew 7:15-20

And what do the atheist/non-religious/anti-Christians do? Throw us (True Christians) into the same cauldron as these wolves with stereotypical blanket ideas and statements that make it seem like WE are the problem.

This has got to be the single most powerful tool the deceiver (Satan) has to use against us; lying to the masses, portraying true followers of Jesus Christ as people who walk around with "God hates f@gs" signs and other rubbish.

People, those who walk around with condemning signs such as that, portraying Christ as some sort of condemner of man (yes, we are all aware that Christ brought a sword, let's not take that verse out of context with what we're talking about), are not Christians, they ARE the wolves in the sheep's clothing. Those along with the televangelist, who profit from Christ and buy Bentley's and Ferrari's with His money. Those people are profiteers and vile.

What can we do about this? Is there anything we CAN do about this?

God doesn't hate "f@gs", God hates homosexuality.
God doesn't hate the sinner, God hates sin.

Jesus Christ is about love and compassion for His people, and ALL who come to Him shall be saved. We need to spread THAT message, not that God hates f@gs. These wolves are ruining the name of the Christian, and we, the followers of Christ, are getting a bad name and put into the same pot as these clowns.

"For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." John 3:17

"God doesn't hate the sinner, God hates sin."

Unfortunately, we are defined by our actions.

Proverbs 6:16-20
New International Version 1984 (NIV1984)
16 There are six things the LORD hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
17 haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19 a false witness who pours out lies
and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

Verse 19 drives the point home.

If God hates sin and not the sinner, why not simply take the sin away from every man and not create Hell, Satan, or the Tree of Knowledge?

Why do you think the Tree was placed in the garden?

If you are claiming John 3:17 stands universally, then the context of the world is everyone in it, yes?

This thing called "free will". God wants us to obey Him, but only if we choose to do so. Why would God create something that had no choice in loving Him or not?

This is completely off the topic of the OP, however, and has nothing to do with my post, and neither does your post. If you want to argue my theological beliefs, feel free to PM me, but this is not the place.

If you deny the simple truth of the OP, then please, state so.

Free will is a human perception and nothing more.

To answer the question: To bring Him glory.

I don't deny that the scripture you posted is the truth. I do believe you've left out some other key verses that would enable a different interpretation to be reached.

I quoted part of your post and addressed it, therefore I feel it is pertinent to the topic at hand. :)

"Those along with the televangelist, who profit from Christ and buy Bentley's and Ferrari's with His money. Those people are profiteers and vile. " <---Totally agree with this statement.

Let me ask this to remain completely on topic: How does one come to Christ?

You are attempting to pick at my theology instead of address the issue at hand, I'm not new to the internet. ;)

Again, feel free to PM me if you want about my theology. Do not discuss it here.

If you disagree with the following statements:
-There are wolves in sheep's clothing (which Christ warns us about explicitly)
-They are giving true Christians a bad reputation, along with Christ

Then please, discuss.

The passage in its context has nothing to do with those who you point out. Anyone with a grain of sense knows that they are wolves. The warning is about preachers. They are wolves in sheeps clothing. That means they look like sheep, act like sheep, smell like sheep and to all appearances are sheep. Like you most folks think that they can tell a false prophet if they saw one. But the fact is that most have no clue. The reason for this is that they are probably a better "christian" than you are.

He goes on to tell us in the passage that you will know them by their fruits. Again most folks think that means by how they act but as I said they act better than you do. The fruit of a preacher is what he preaches. That is how you know a false prophet. That is the context and meaning of the passage.

Acts 4:12
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

In my experience one big wolf in the church are those who say there are other saviours other than Jesus Christ.

'Did God really say................but surely those who are sincere are saved'

Yes God did say and there are those who are sincere but sincerely wrong.

God Bless:)

I agree there are wolves in sheep's clothing...and I agree that they are giving Christians a bad rep...but as Christ says:

John 15:18
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.

It doesn't matter...why care so much what others think about you? Care about what God thinks about you.

With all due respect you're the one that brought up "free will" first lol. ;)

Dear ChrisHolland619. Yes, those wolves are dangerous, and we must be aware. Thanks to God, we are not without good advice from Jesus our Saviour. 1) Love God with all our hearts, with all our souls, and with all our minds. 2) Love our neighbour as ourselves. Love is what God wants from us, and we know that God`s adversary runs away from Love. That leaves us free to follow God`s Commandments to love.
How do we do it?? We start by treating ALL we know and all we meet, as we would love to be treated: being kind and friendly, helpful and considerate, in short: always be a good neighbour. God sees our sincere efforts, and God will approve and bless us. AND God will know that we love God, HOW? We are following God`s Commandments to love and care. People will notice, and will treat us the same, because Love is very catching, Chris. And those wolves in sheep`s clothing, will run away, as fast as they can.
Jesus will give us His Love and Joy, and the Holy Spirit will give us His Love, also. Jesus told us to: "ask and ye will receive," then we thank God and share all Love and Joy with all around us. Love is also changing us, slowly and surly, we will turn into the children which our Heavenly Father wants us to be: Loving God with all our beings, and loving our neighbour, ( all others, friends and not friends) as we love ourselves.
God is Love, and Love is the Key to God`s Kingdom. God told us: " Whosoever will, may come." Wolves in sheep`s clothing will be detect by their evil smell, immediately. With God on our side, who or what can harm us? I say this with love. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

Don't confuse the wolf with the sheepdog. Some of us are sheepdogs, I'd rather be a sheepdog than a sheep. Maybe I'd rather be a wolf, wolves have so much fun. Howling at the moon, running with the pack, chasing sheep and eating lambchops and venison and rabbit.... and occasionally quail and squirrel and chicken...Running through mountains, woods valleys and snow, playing with the other wolves....

Then if I were a sheepdog I could sleep where it's warm, and eat better food, and play with the sheep, and I'd have humans pet me and talk to me, they would like me and reward me if I did a good job herding the sheep and protecting them from my wild cousins the wolves. You know wolves are not as bad as their reputations. WOlves are enadangered in America and Europe, Eurrasia. Wolves only attack weak, sick or injured people. They go for easy kills. They are a part of nature, God's creation, and even the animals seen as evil or ferocious or vicious are part of God's creation and God loves them and takes care of nature.

I know what wolf in sheeps clothing means, there are too many televangelists on "Christian" TV like that today. By your deeds you will be known.
