My people, I love God as much as the rest of you, but the sign up at the top of this subforum says "HANGOUT" There are literally hundreds of subforums on this site for every single possible christian related topic you could think of, so why when I come here do I just see more posts about God and the Bible?? This is the hang out zone people! We're free in christ right? We know how to hang out right? So in this thread? Send a gif, make a joke, tell me something stupid, post your favorite song, post a funny vid (appropriate ones of course) but if you wanna give a praise report or talk spiritual stuff, THE ENTIRE REST OF THE FORUM IS FOR THAT, so in THIS forum, you know... let's actually like, hang out yeah? I love taking walks, it's crazy how much self realization I get from just taking a walk haha. Honestly I'm just ready for my parents to go to bed so I can do whatever I want haha they're packing up and moving crap around so I feel kinda.... I'm just sitting here.... lol that's kind of why I started this thread it was the SOMEONE ENTERTAIN ME I'M BORED!!! thread lol

What a smart idea, Symph.

Well, here's my thing today. Been into this old band most of the morning and still tonight. They were heavily influenced by Christianity in the early days but slowly got turned by the world (don't wanna talk about that. It's depressing).

Anyway, Turtlefish the Challenged was posting today about how he's so depressed about not finding a woman to love that he's been considering calling it quits with the Lord. He seems like such a likable guy to me, so I told him so, and it's so tragic to hear somebody even say that.

My mind traveled to this old song. If you make your happiness dependent upon love or money, it makes you a prisoner to the enemy in your mind. You start to tell yourself you "have" to have this or that or you'll never be happy and content.

One of the most tasteful leads in all rock-n-roll as well, imo. I had a Christian guitar player friend that I was considering starting a progressive band with who told me the same thing. Couldn't stop listening to this lead, over and over and over again it was just that good. (He tried out for Pantera back in the day as well, btw, so I know his opinion was at least as good as mine is).

Anyway, pray for Turtlefish the Challenged. He's going through it, although it looks like I and a few others gave him some good advice about just trying to focus on the things of God, and think on positive things.

Your friend isn't FROM Kings X is he? I was in a christian band when I was a youth we toured all over america and went to CMA awards etc, in that time period in my life Kings X was one of my favorite bands I loved those guys. Sorry to hear he's in such a dark place! I feel like I have to share an equally cool tune but it's so hard to think of songs in that genre that you could post on a forum like this..... hmmm... yeah I got nothing, so I'll post a totally different kind of song instead.

I didn't even ask him. All I know is he was really good. Him and his brother were both really talented (the brother played drums). But he had gotten married and was tied down at that point. Sort of looked at me one day and dropped his head, like he had sorta ruined some opportunities in life.

But it was cool. God had other things for me anyway.

To me this song feels like I'm riding a harley in outerspace.

Ha! Leave it to you to completely altar the mood. Here I thought we might grieve for ... oh, I don't know ... maybe like a minute or two. Ha! I don't think anybody will need to tell you to think on positive things too often. You're probably already there before they've said it.

I'll listen to your tune. What band were you in, btw?

Oh, and I got to see King's X in Baton Rouge about 10 years ago. Stood directly in front of Ty Tabor the whole time. Really fun. I'll never forget it.

Awesome! And I dunno man I just think God works everything out! hahahaha I was in a band called Squirt, I'm gonna do a quick google search and see if I can find the terrible cover photos we did haha
