“Now accept the one who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his opinions. One person has faith that he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats vegetables only. The one who eats is not to regard with contempt the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat is not to judge the one who eats, for God has accepted him. Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.” (Romans 14:1-4 NASB1995)
Now, when this says that we are to accept a brother or a sister in Christ who is weak in faith, this is not teaching tolerance of willful, defiant, deliberate and habitual (addictive) sin in the life of anyone who professes faith in Jesus Christ. We are not to show tolerance of any addictive sinful patterns. But in context, this is speaking of things which are neither moral nor immoral, but are mostly a matter of personal preference. For they have to do with matters of food that we eat, and which days we regard as more special than others.
But Jesus freed the Jews who believed in him of having to observe all the Old Covenant liturgical, ceremonial, sacrificial, purification, circumcision, dietary, and Sabbath laws. But some believers had a difficult time letting go of the dietary and Sabbath laws, and so they were regarded as those who were weak in faith, and yet not out of the will of God. For they were not faithless, and they were commended for doing what they did for the Lord, as though they were his servants who walked in obedience to his commands.
But sadly, many people in the USA are taking this Scripture, Romans 14:1, and Romans 15:1, out of their context, and they are applying them to the church needing to tolerate sinful practices and moral depravity in the lives of those who profess to know God and to worship Jesus Christ. And since the church, in general (not all congregations), is being taught tolerance of willful and defiant and immoral sinful practices among its members, in the name of “love,” and compassion, and acceptance, immorality has skyrocketed.
And this massive rejection of Jesus’ gospel message, which teaches that we must die to sin and obey God’s commandments if we want to have salvation from sin and eternal life with God, and this massive movement towards tolerating all sorts of depravity among the people of these “churches,” which they call “love,” “kindness,” and “compassion,” is not only destroying the church, but it is destroying marriages and families and the lives of children who are being exposed to all sorts of evil via smartphones in their hands.
Addiction to pornography or to anything of a sexually immoral nature is very high, especially among the male population, but still impacting females, youth and children, too. And it seems the majority of professers of faith in Christ Jesus are not living moral, upright, and godly lives, and marriages are suffering because of it. Statistics seem to indicate a divorce rate of 33% to as high as 50% of all “Christian” marriages. And those who don’t divorce will often live in broken marriage relationships, many feeling they are unloved.
Well, three days ago the Lord had me write a devotional on the subject of marriage, from a biblical perspective of what marriage should and should not look like for the Christian couple. It was titled, “The Two, One Flesh.” And today I posted a video presentation of that writing where I read the writing and posted it on YouTube. So I will share with you here the link to that video in case you are interested in watching the video and to hearing what the Lord gave me to share, from a biblical perspective on what a Christian marriage should look like, especially if it is to survive this wicked generation.

As the Deer
By Martin J. Nystrom
Based off Psalm 42:1
As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after You
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You
You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You
