Have any of you seen this program with Kirk Cameron?
http://www.wayofthemaster.com/wotm_flash.html
I went to the website thinking I would find some useful soul winning tips on it. Well they don't tell you ANYTHING unless you buy this kit for $59.00!!
I can't believe it! This is somthing that I would think should be used for a ministry.....you know, allowing GOD to bless you, not the people.
I understand that things cost money, but why not say........we would love to have a $_______ donation to our cause.

Am I missing somthing?

Too much about Chrsitianity is commercial these days. Just look at the accessories that go with the Left Behind series. Everything from paperweights to keychains, from videos to action figures. I think those who capitalize on the message of the Cross will have to answer for it one day. It's not wrong to make money on a book or something, but sheesh, Left Behind memo pads? Really!

Hehe, that reminds me of a pastor I saw on television. He preached on how there are many different kinds of faith and only one of them saves you. Well he went through all the types of faith that doesn't save us and at the end, he said "if you want to find out which faith does lead to salvation, send in such and such money to..."

after i stopped laughing it kinda made me sad to realize that now people are trying to sell salvation.

Well of course they are going to charge you money for it Gel, it is afterall class. Hundreds of people(a guess) each day access the site and they have to pay for the upkeep and maintainance. Ray Comfort has gone way out of his way to make everything he has there on this site and the others affordable for everyone. He cannot give everything away free however because he isn't a rich man to begin with. His partner Kirk Cameron is not exactly a rich guy either. Site like even this one take major bucks to keep them up and running:staff to update it and connections that can cost up to thousands per month per server.

(By the way if you look at the prices of some of the other courses out there this is by far inexpensive.)

By the way if you have no cash you can write the site admin an email and they will give you free admission. When you are done with the course you take an exam and if you get above the required amount they send you a certificate signed(real signature, no stamp) by Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron.

Trust me Gel I am on your side when it comes to greedy preachers, I can't stand the lot of them, but these guys seem to me(after watching them for over a year now) to be the real deal. Take a look at his tract section. You can't get tracts for this cheap anywhere else.

Just my opinion.

Discernment is always needed in these things.

There is a difference between doing something for money and charging enough to keep the service functioning. I don't find the cost here that expensive at all. In fact it is quiet cheep I think. I just paid $30 for a precept teaching coarse but I know if I simply was not able to pay that the amount would be paid for me.

That is the difference I think. We give and pay for things in ministry to help substain ministries. But ministries for the most part will provide for those who can not provide for themselves.

What good is a ministry that can not continue because they do not have the money to keep it running? Not talking profit but functioning.

Kirk's sister's site (the girl from Full House) has a good gospel presentation.

Just two quick balanced ideas:

1 Corinthians 9
18 What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

1 Timothy 5
18 For the scripture saith, thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.

I was in church last night and that 1 Corinth verse popped out at me.
I even wrote next to it "send to way of Master".
I understand that they need money to function as a ministry. However, I just feel uneasy about them charging people to "teach" them how to soul win. That is just a little wierd. I have seen them working on TV and I was amazed how they get right to the point with people. I understand that both of these men don't have much money, but God will provide and he will bring showers of blessings.
I am going to go back and take a look at it.
I like the idea of using the 10 commandments.

I like the idea as well of using the Law as a schoolmaster. It works with some and not with others. The ones it does not minister to are the tough nuts to crack anyway. JMOA

If you are strapped for cash just tell them, they will not refuse anyone the chance to learn this stuff. :)

Although my above post might make someone say different, I do belive that ministries should be supported financially. I mean if they have invested their prayers and time into something they think God can use and is using them for, then asking for money isn't wrong. I'm sure alot of these people who have websites or publish literature or videos would like nothing better than to give all of their stuff away for free, but the economy we live in doesn't allow that, so ministries should be supported.
