Its entertainment pure and simple. Watching the Walking Dead to learn about survival is a bit like watching MASH to learn about medicine. There are any number of courses available, in the US, Canada, and other countries, which can teach real world survival skills. Many are provided by the govt.

I'm glad they made this prepper thing, we need to make a worldwide plan for how Christians will handle the zombie apocalypse.
Like God said.. "thou shalt not murder". But is it murder if they are already dead?

I got stuck on it in netflix watching for great ideas about living in a society that has lost all it's conveniences.
there is not many ideas though. not as many as I wish would be. I loved the idea of taking over a prison . surely all the inmates would run away from it and it can easily become a defensive place. but yes we watch all those kind of prepper and wild man shows on net flix just for ideas on how to make our life now cheaper and to live better on less . I don't regular tv anymore way to much preaching and brainwashing.

The CDC put out a Zombie Apocalypse bulletin - what to do in case of a zombie plague. It was tongue in cheek BUT the advice is still pertinent for non-zombie emergencies.

Call me crazy, but IF there really was going to be an outbreak of something that causes zombies, I think it will be use of a dangerous drug and NOT a virus

If that were so, then there wouldn't be so much danger of its spreading than if it were a virus.

"Zombie" is the colorful metaphor some preppers use to describe those who, 3 weeks after the stuff hits the fan, are now out there desperately trying to feed themselves and their families. Sad.. but an predictable situation. Millions of them fleeing from the rioting, pillaging, and lawlessness . Our plan is to create a store of food that we can use to feed as many as possible. When our efforts run out.. we will trust the Lord to extend what we have and continue.
Head in the sand and turning away the hungry is not love.

yes and there was that
I think zombie "salts" epidemic ? some homeless were like eating peoples face off because of this stuff they were smoking that killed the brain and caused the brain to over heat I think.. 5 or 6years ago...
so all drugs can make Zombies. and when they start eating each other they will start waiting diseases like Aids.

bath salts make you act nuts. so does meth and other dangerous narcotics. use of them makes you look like you're half dead, complete with rotten teeth, skeleton body and sores. It might not spread in a way like the zombie viruses in Dawn of the Dead or I Am Legend, but it can still spread at an alarming rate. drugs are highly addictive... all someone has to do is give one dose of crack or meth to a naive person to "try just for fun" and BAM! addiction that ruins lives.

I think it's only a matter of time before someone comes out with something like in that movie "Max Payne", something that was meant to enhance a soldier and was only meant for labratory use and the wrong person gets ahold of it... next thing you know, a whole city is hooked on it and running rampant killing people to get more.

My husband has gotten hooked on the walking dead. I don't really like the zombies, but the show is pretty good. Although there isn't much on prepping. I did think it was smart of that one group to take control of the prison and to try to grow their own food and such.

For years, I really believed that my pet, Skunky, went to live out his days on a skunk farm. It was only when reminiscing with my brother that I suddenly realized, "Uh-oh."

Well my dad said his college friend's wife was given crack at a party and she was hooked, just like that. several months later had run them out of money and destroyed the family. True, my dad did tell it and not this friend but my dad doesn't lie lol

I watch "The Walking Dead" (and now "Fear The Walking Dead") primarily for entertainment purposes, but the survivalist in me also watches for apocalyptic reasons. It has shown me, to some degree, what survival might be like in case of a doomsday. For real survival skills training I like to watch Les Stroud. Dual Survival is also decent.
