No. Zechariah 14 has nothing to do with the battle over Meggido. Besides Zechariah 14 has nothing to do with the Second Coming. It's about Christ's first coming which I have discussed already on another thread. Not going through this again here.

But as for the battle of "Armageddon" which MANY people misunderstood about what it really is.
Armageddon does mean mount or "mountain of Megiddo," The Greek rendering of Armageddon is from the Hebrew, and is made up of two words. The first is [har], meaning hill or mount (usually translated mountain), and [m`giddown], which was a city of Canaan given Manasseh in the Old Testament, and literally means, "place of meeting," (assembly) through the idea of cutting to duplicate or multiply. It is a sort of "rendezvous mountain." Thus [har'mgiddown] means mountain of Megiddo, and signifies an appointed rendezvous or an assembly appointment. For example, the final conflict wherein the forces of evil are appointed to come against the church of God and be defeated.

Revelation 17:16-17
  • "And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the harlot, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
  • For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled."
This is God's penultimate judgment, the final assault on the church by the kings of the earth who are gathered together for this purpose, indwelled by the spirit of antichrist.

Unfortunately, people like yourself and theologians "surmise" that since Megiddo "pertains" to the Jezreel Valley, it must thus refer to the "valley and plain of Megiddo" that is spoken of in Scripture. This is obviously because there is no giant mountain of Megiddo where great battles of scripture were fought. It was the plain of Meggido and the fertile valley whose strategic location led to frequent battles for control by many kingdoms and empires. This misunderstanding, in my honest opinion, is basically a matter of different hermeneutics, as most of the theologians that look to a physical/literal city of Megiddo are prone to use history to interpret scripture, rather than allow "scripture to interpret history."

2nd Chronicles 35:21-22
  • "But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with thee, thou king of Judah? I come not against thee this day, but against the house wherewith I have war: for God commanded me to make haste: forbear thee from meddling with God, who is with me, that he destroy thee not.
  • Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and hearkened not unto the words of Necho from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo."
The truth is, the battle of Armageddon is all about rebellion and fighting against God, and His ultimate victory over that people. Armageddon has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the literal/physical valley or plain of Megiddo, or even a physical Mountain of Megiddo for that matter! Rather, God symbolically uses this place of great battles (Megiddo) to illustrate the great and final battle for the kingdom, wherein Satan and his army will one last time come against His congregation. Remember, Satan, ruling in the man of sin or lawlessness thinks that he can forsake God's law and take a seat to rule as his own god. And to do his own thing. This battle will occur when Satan is loosed from the bottomless pit to gather the kings of the earth to the assembly of the saints, and it is there they will be finally defeated. This symbolically only takes place in God's congregations all over the Earth where man of sin rules. Not a physical place in Israel.

As for you Douggg, you need to understand that the book of Revelation is replete with imagery, symbols, and monikers, most of which refer to or are derived from Old Testament examples. There is no physical mountain of Migiddo (despite some claims to the contrary pointing to some hills), it refers to a spiritual Kingdom/Mountain where this great battle that God determined will take place. It's like I said before, in the cryptic symbology of scripture a mountain is used as a figure of a Kingdom. And the place of this Kingdom where the kings of the earth are gathered together is the corporate congregation or camp of the saints. Its moniker is Megiddo, the character of the play of this assembly and warfare. It is the unfaithful church that has gone whoring after other gods out to silence the witnesses of the truth with the testimony of God here (Revelation 11:7). And this is God's judgment upon this congregation, symbolized as a battle/warfare that will cause this city to fall. At the time when the spirit Satan is loosed by God and he gathers all the kings of the earth (Revelation 20), they're led of him to come up against God's people as in Migeddo of days past. They come up against the corporate kingdom representation of God. Why? Because God loosed Satan "specifically" for this purpose after all Israel was saved. Revelation 20 doesn't speak of an accidental loosing, Satan is to be loosed deliberately by God specifically for the purpose of gathering the kings to assault the camp of the saints, which signifies the unfaithful church who now come under judgment. This is done ONLY After ALL the tribes of the Israel of God are sealed (Revelation 7:3), which sealing is why Satan was bound in the first place. Remember, Satan was bound in the first instance so that the Kingdom of God could be advanced to the nations. He is thus loosed "AFTER" that purpose has been completed, the testimony of the two witnesses s finished when all Israel has been sealed.

Again, this is not a physical battle in the sense that it is fought with earthly or carnal weapons and armies over there in the valley in Israel. Rather it is a great spiritual battle fought by people with the spirit of antichrist against those with the Spirit of God. It is with the sword of doctrines in the wanton city of unfaithfulness. These kings come with the armaments of unrighteousness, deception and lawlessness, deceiving the people of the congregations. And make no mistake, God has given them this power to do this (symbolized by ten horns). These kings of the earth are specifically to bring this city, spiritually as Sodom and Egypt, to desolation. Her abominations is what leads to her desolation.

Revelation 17:16-18
  • "And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the harlot, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
  • For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil HIS will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.
  • And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth."

What is God's will? To Judge His unfaithful church! This is what the battle of Armageddon is really all about!

The number three used of the unclean spirits like frogs from this false prophets mouth, symbolizes this is God's purpose and will. God has appointed the unfaithful corporate church to this wrath, but not the elect church. Get it? Therefore, Elect will of God's Spirit rise when they see the abomination of the lawless man (man of sin) taking his position to rule as God in the congregation, and they will depart from that abominable assembly that they will not be left desolate. The Elect are spiritually called out that they are not a partaker in the sins of the harlot woman who is spiritually become as Babylon. They put on their armaments, put on their breastplates, pick up their swords and obey the word of God. They rise up from the sleep of death, prepared before by sealing to overcome, even in the face of adversity and strong delusion among them. As in the parable of the 10 virgins. That while wrath is upon the unfaithful congregation, the sealed elect are not appointed to that wrath. They don't go to them that buy and sell, they instead flee to the mountains wherein is their peace and safety.

1st Thessalonians 5:5-9
  • "Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
  • Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
  • For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
  • But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
  • For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,"
This is the war! The war with the elect putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. Which is the reason that the saints will prevail, and will not end up buying and selling and receiving the mark of the Beast. As the parable of the ten virgins illustrates, though they may sleep when they shouldn't ( even as the 12 apostles did when Christ bid them to, WATCH; selah), because they are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise, they are still prepared to come out. They are moved to rise up and come out to meet the Lord, rather than hesitate running to and fro in confusion. In the real sense, this is the time of the total desolation of the unfaithful church by God, because of the abominations that they have practiced there. And this battle is the sign of the elect donning their armor, heeding the prophecy to battle and then flee out of the midst of her that is abominable. This is a sign that the fall of spiritual Babylon is neigh. Though it might not be clear, it's all related and interrelated through many Scriptures.

Matthew 24:15-16
  • "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand: )
  • Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:"
The abominations of the man of sin, or of the sinful man, ruling in the holy place (Church) as if he were God Himself. In other words, making his own laws, following his own course, doing what is right in his own eyes, rather than abiding by God's laws. That is the "sign" for the true believer to flee from the midst of this once holy place, and make their home in spiritual mountains. Which is the true Kingdom and righteousness of Christ, not the corporate church.

Psalms 36:6
  • "Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast."

Here God signifies His righteousness is what preserves man, and He likens it unto great "mountains." So when Matthew 24 says believers should flee unrighteousness to the mountains, these are the mountains to which they are to flee. Or again we read:

Psalms 121:1-2
  • "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth."
Psalms 125:2
  • "As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever."

Here again, we see God likened or equated unto "mountains" which are around His people signifying His righteous protection of them. Using scripture as our guide and interpreter, when the saints are told to flee to the mountains, this is where they are to go when they see the abomination that leads the unfaithful church to desolation. The security of this Mountain Retreat or this Mountain Refuge of God can only be found in righteousness arms of God. The faithful saints have their garments secure and don their armaments and they flee, while the unfaithful, who do not watch, do not keep their garments. This Armageddon is where God will bring judgment upon the unfaithful. As it is written, His judgment must start at His house. And always has.

Ezekiel 9:5-7
  • "And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity:
  • Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.
  • And he said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and slew in the city."
It is a given principle that judgment begins at the house of God FIRST before the Second Coming. And Armageddon is the prelude to the second coming and the judgment at the end of the world.

1st Peter 4:17

  • "For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?"

Judgment begins at the mount of Megiddo, the mount of the congregation. This is where the "REAL" battle rages, not national Israel or Jerusalem with missiles and guns. And after this place is left desolate for their abominations, then will Christ return on the clouds of glory that all must stand before Him, and the books opened. So has it always been.

Jeremiah 25:29-30
  • "For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts
  • Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth."
The point being, if God does not spare His own House, His own people that are called by His name Israel, should the non-covenanted heathen nations imagine that there is no judgment for them? judgment begins at the house of God. Selah.

Except God's elect, romans chapter 11 to document. It's the gathering place. Antichrist think's he can break spirt of Jesus. It won't work. Because Jesus has His Election. The majority will go to sheol. It's holding place for the spirtualty dead or wicked.
