  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I loved Twelve Kingdoms! I own most of them, though I couldn't finish buying all of them before I left the US. When I get back I'm gonna buy the rest and watch the whole thing, front to back.

I've heard that the storyline in the anime doesn't actually finish what was in the books. I think maybe all the story wasn't out at the time or someting (a-la-Naruto). There have been rumors that there will be a second series to finish the story, but I'm not sure how far I would trust it.

It is an awesome series though. The world is so rich and detailed, it draws you in (kind of like Last Exile or Kino's Journey did for me). I would definately recommend it. Plus I think that there are five or six episodes per disk (I don't know about that, I havn't been able to look at them for six months.)

I knew that it wasn't exactly flying off American shelves, but are we the only ones here who watched it? Or are you asking because you havn't seen it?

yep Lucent, i've seen the whole thing. The anime hasn't finished because the books aren't done (even though the books are a bit ahead), but i read from some anime communities that the author has currently stopped writing Twelve Kingdoms.

so we'd never know when and if the producer would continue making the anime.

I like how each character is so deeply involved, that there isn't just one, but many main characters. The internal struggle of the female protagonist is great too! and that question about the qualities it takes to be a leader certainly gets me thinking. It's an interesting and idealistic model the author has crafted here. If a King is good, give him immortal life so the Kingdom would stay peaceful forever. One little observation though, seems that none of the Kings have lived 'forever', as they have all been replaced. I wonder whether the author's trying to say that power and selflessness cannot be mutually exclusive.

the only thing i pick on the series is the beginning of the anime as it starts real slow. My bro couldn't get past it.

tell me who your fav character is when you get to watch more episodes, selune!

So far it's Keiki, we know so little about him, but I was captured when he came to get Nakajima-san. I am also very interested in the character who is inhabiting Yoko Nakajima right now (I forget the name) but the one who helps her fight with the sword. I need to watch more, I didn't get to the last few nights...

The series did start pretty slow. I remember watching the first episode on a preview disc from Newtype. It didn't do much for me, but I saw the first full disc on sale a year or two later. I picked it up and had up to disc six by the end of the week. Then I had to wait for the rest.

I was impressed by the level of development the characters had, too. I wish more people watched it.

I wish I could watch it now.
