  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I just went to a seminar this last weekend sponsored by Focus on the Family called "The Truth Project".

http://thetruthproject.org

It was outstanding - and I hope to post more about it soon. It went into a bunch of different areas of knowledge and understanding and discussed a solid conservative Biblical perspective on each area. The seminar is designed to teach folks how to lead small groups through 12 DVD and discussion sessions -- including one on science which I haven't seen yet, but it goes into design/creationism versus darwinism/evolution (in favor of design, of course).

The main point of the project is to recognize the pernicious influence of various philosophies and to replace them with a solid Biblical/Christian worldview.

Awesome! I'm glad you decided to go, I knew you wouldn't be disappointed.

Yes it is absolutely outstanding. The twelve lessons all focus on building a biblical worldview. I've been through all twelve and am presently teaching (facilitating actually) two home groups and I couldn't be happier with the response of the participants in both. One is a group of high school seniors and the other is a group of mature believers and both have responded eagarly and extremely positively to the teaching.
So it's not just about Creation?
It covers other things like politics, education, etc.?
Right! One lesson (two sessions) covers science and creation. You will love this because it covers almost everything. If you click on the interactive lesson guide once you're on the site you will have access to an overview of all twelve lessons and a 30 second clip of what they consist of. I guarantee you'll be impressed.

Anyway some of the lessons are:

What is Truth?
Who is Man?
Who is God?
Philosophy & Ethics
Science: What is True?
History: Whose Story?
Sociology: The Divine Imprint
The State
Community

If you get the opportunity to attend a seminar or just go to a home based lesson I wouldn't hesitate to do so.

You make it sound so good I wish I could facilitate a study at my church.
(But I am not a member and I don't believe I would be allowed.)
You don't have to be a member of any church in order to do this. However, in order to have it 'sanctioned' by your church that may be a requirement. The thing is, this isn't something you do during Sunday school, it is meant to take place in the home. The lessons are designed around a two hour time frame. The first hour you watch the lesson and then the second you discuss it.

One of the criteria in order to faciliate a study is to attend a seminar or having previously attended a study. The reason they do this is they want to make sure the material is presented accurately and something isn't lost in the motives or desires of Focus on the Family. Plus it also provides a means of promotion that is more in line with how they would like to see this propagated, by word of mouth.

Ah well, I doubt if I will be attending a seminar any time soon.

Yes, it is a requirement of my church- rightly so, I think.

We have Sunday night discipleship classes at our church-
usually a 13 week course,
though usually 6 PM to 7:30 PM.
