  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'd like to know why telling the truth is outlawed. AM I still a child, just now growing up, the last foolish lost lamb to realize it? The Bible was written recently by Jimmy Carter, "King James" and the magna carta was written to impeach Jimmy carter, magma, reffering to lava when Mount St. Helen blew up, aka Mount Vesuvius, Carter refers to Jimmy Carter's last name, Magna carta was supposedly written in the middle ages to limit King John (Prince John in the Robin Hood stories) power over medieval England, he was force to sign it, supposedly by medieval England's barons. I think the real manga carta was like the American Constitution, perhaps it gave rights to "barren" women, or maybe gave women the right to an abortion, roe verses wade. gave women rights and women and men didn't have to have children, marriage was no longer for the purpose of producing children.

Black Beauty refers to nightmares, the nightmare a poor horse was put through, the night mare black people were put through with slavery and civil rights movement, racial fighting and tension.

Mother Goose was a silly old woman, a foolish witch who abused her children, the nursery rhymes have to do with accusations of witchcraft and child abuse, also the Salem witchccraft trials, in which people were falsley accused. The real Salem witchcraft trials happened in the 1950's, with McCarthyism people being accused of communism and some children and teenagers became ill and had bad dreams, nightmares, they had fevers and suffered hallucinations, plus there were foreigners from different countries whose cultures were very different from American/Western culture and they were seen as being evil and denomic, witchccraft. Well, it could have actually been witchcraft. Perhaps the east, west, and north and south did not agree or understand one another.

So i think the Bible and most of the history books are full of lies. I added up stuff, put 2 and 2 together and you will figure it out.

Why do you think the Bible is full of lies? Esp as an alleged Christian? The Bible is the only true main universal source of truth that is available to us today. If anything, just about everything else is full of lies. There is no book as legitimate as the Bible, no matter what the people of this generation might say, for their lack of faith in its validicy has effected their lives today and their lifestyles that they live are evident of it as many of them live degenerated lifestyles of decadence. They would benefit much from it if they obeyed it and applied it to their own lives and wrote it upon the tablets of their own hearts. Do not doubt the Bible's legitimacy, but surely have full faith in it. Many history books may be propogated with biased misinformation, but the Bible is not as cryptic as it may seem. If you want to be a true Christian, stengthen your faith in God's Holy Word, that is the Bible, my friend, for there is no denying its accurtae truths concerning God, the world, the ways of man, history, etc. etc. I should know as I've read the entire Bible many times over and lived it.

The whole truth has not been told. History is written by the winners. The Bible was written with politcal, racial and national motivations. You must read between the lines to get the whole truth. It is not necessary full of lies, just has gaps in it, and some things in it are the words of men, like there are laws saying witches should be put to death, adultery is punished by death, but men who cheat on their wives with single women get away with it, because women are the proeprty of men, and men can have as many wives and concubines as they want, even though this is against God's will, it was legal back in ancient Israel. Young brides were stoned to death if there was no proof of their virginity. ANd if a man raped a girl who was not betrothed, he paid her father the brdie price and then married her, she could not get out of the marriage. It was also against the law to wear clothing made from two different kinds of fibers, no cotton-polyester blends. ANd they could not sow their feild with more than one kind of seed. Eating shell fish, pork, rabbits, was forbidden. These are some deuteronomy laws. The penalty for sexual sins was usually death.

I think the reason these laws exist was because of the golden calf incident.

Moses first went up to the mountain to get the law from God, and the when he came down, he found the Israelites worshipping this golden calf, behaving terribly like pagan Egyptians, showing no gratitude, no thanks or loyalty to the GOd who had rescued them from slavery in Egypt and shown them such great miracles. Moses broke the orignal commandments out of anger. After the good Israelites slaughter the bad Israelites, Moses made new tablets with the laws on them.

Now, how do we know they were the same laws? Perhaps the orignal commandments were better, more merciful, fair and just, kinder and more reasonable. THe ten comamndments are the basic laws we should go by. THere are actually over 400 commandments, but I think the first 10 are the basic, perhaps those were the only laws god gave Moses at first.

Jesus said the basic sum of the law is this: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and all your strength, and love your neighbor as you love yourself." THat is the law of God in a nutshell.

How do we know God did not add on more comandments after the golden calf incident, seeing Isreal's sin, he made harsher laws and stricter punishments. I guess it would not make sense, because if they disobeyued like that right away, how would the children of Israel be able to follow and keep the stricter laws? Did God make up stricter more detailed laws as punishment? I must admit a lot of the Jewish old testament laws seem very petty. I know they are designed to protect the Israelites and keep them pure.

People tend to take witchcraft more lightly than they ought. I have personal experience with the severity of witchcraft, for I myself have been bewitched. Witchcraft is quite wicked and like many other sins, does deserve death. Technically all sins deserve death, for the wages of sin is indeed death, however God is more lenient and grants more mercy upon sinners in this present day and generation than he did in ancient times during the early establishment of Israel as we know it today. I think that is for a reason, for God is righteous in everything he does. It does indeed seem that God was more harsh and stricter back in the OT and I'm sure he was, but I believe it was for a reason, for then Israel did not necessarily have a Savior who could advocate and bear their sins, but sinners were required to make sacrifices to atone for their sins. Now Jesus has come and died for our sins, the penalty has been paid by him and he has been the final all time sacrifice for our sins, therefore God is more lenient.

As far as the laws concerning adultery and many wives during the OT; I also believe God had his good reasons for permitting that also. What those reasons were; I can't quite tell you, but I support God and in his defense, I'm sure he had his good reasons. I don't necessarily agree with having more than one wife, I don't necessarily think it's right, however during those times God was more lenient on things than he is now and yet he was more strict in some things than he is now, it's interesting. This has all been made possible through Jesus Christ; for again; he was the main sacrifice for all sins of all sinners everywhere, whereas back then men had to make animal sacrifices for their sins. Rape was aboslutely forbidden and anyone who raped anyone was usually put to death to the best of my knowledge, however, a woman who was being raped was expected to resist and cry for help. If she willingly gave in without crying for help, she was partly to blame, however if she was raped out in the wilderness where there were no witnesses around to hear her cry, the man would certainly be put to death and the woman would be shown mercy. I think the laws you're referring to about a man lying with an unbetrothed woman actually was when and if a man had sexual relations with an unbetrothed woman before marriage, he was to certainly engage her and pay the price for her to her father and he was the one that couldn't back out of the deal. This was his requirement, but it doesn't necessarily say anything about rape, for rape was basically forbidden and punished. The laws established in the OT were just even though they seemed unreasonable, yet they were laws that were foreshadowing the coming of the Messiah, and these laws were also formed for the sole purpose of making up for the downfall of man from the grace of God, for mad probably had quite the stubborn heart at those times, and God does tend to show himself somewhat hard against those who have a hard heart. And yes, I would agree that some of the OT laws were designed to keep Israel pure and though they may seem petty and/or unreasonable, God has his good reasons and the more disobedient Israel would become, the more strict of laws he would legislate.

I understand how you feel about witchcraft, I agree it is terrible, it opens the door wide to Satan and demon possession, madness, mental illness, mental, spiritual physical anxiety, illness, dark and terrible things. I have personal experience with witchcraft too. I think people who are witches are victims of Satan, they can be saved if they are reached before they go to far. As a Christian fantasy writer, well I am an amateur, I have most of the magic in my stories done by the bad guys, who are usually evil sorcerers who serve Satan. Good vs evil is a common theme in my stories, and the good guys, who are usually Christians, always win.

I think you are right about the rape law, it was a "shot gun wedding" where a young man and woman who had fornicated, had premarital sex with consent, were ordered to be engaged and married to cover the sin. It reminds me of the story of Dinah, Joseph's sister, in Genesis. DInah is Jacob's daughter by Leah, and she is seduced by a young man named Shechem, the son of a village chief of the town of Shechem. The Bible says Shechem 'violates' her, but it also says his heart is drawn to Dinah, and he loves her and spoke tenderly to her, it is questionable whether it was consensual or not. After that, young Shechem goes to his father and tells him he wants Dinah for his wife. So the chief goes to Jacob and talks to him about intermarriage between his tribe and their town. Jacob explains about his God, and how according to the laws of God, Elohim/Yahweh, the men must be circumcized, and they must put their faith in the one God of Jacob, Isaac and Abraham. WHat bothers me about this is that Jacob seems more interested in circumcision, and outward display of faith, than if the townsmen believe, trust and put their faith in Yahweh and follow him by stopping their idol worship getting rid of their idols and following only Yahweh. But I suppose I am guilty of having my own sort of idols, like the sinners in the OT.

Shechem and his father convince the other people in the town to circumcize themselves so they can inter marry with the Hebrews. Then DInah's brothers ome home from the fields and hear how their sisters was iolated. They are angry and two of them take thir swords and attack the town while the men are all in pain from the circumcision. They kill all the men. Then Dinah's other brothers come by and loot the place. By this time Dinah is living in Shechem's house. Her brothers take her out of the house an bring her back to Jaob's tents. They kill Shechem, his father and his family. The brothers loots the place, take all the stuff, the valauble items of gold, silver, bronze, wood, tke the livestok, the cattle, and the women and children as slaves. Dinah mourns in the woman's tent where her family has their tents set up. She lives among the women of her family and tribe as a widow for the rest of her life.

I have a novel I've been reading called "The Red Tent" which is the story of Dinah, and tells about Rachel and Leah too, but it is written from a "pagan" Jewish viewpoint, by a new age Jewish feminist woman. In this book Rachel and Leah worship pagan semetic Mesopsotamian goddesses, while Jacob follows "El" a Canaanite version of the later Yahweh, El satands for Elohim.

Jacob tells his sons they have made him a foul stench in the nostrils of his neighbors, he is shocked and appauled by what they did.

I would just like to say that I was wrong when I said that the Bible is full of lies. I was having a paranoid crazy moment and not thinking clearly. I apologize for that.

ANyway, I was thinking the story I just told, the Dinah incident, is the reason for the law about marrying your "rapist" TO be clear, it is not really talking about rape, but consensual pre-marital sex. If a young couple goes too far and sins, they should get married to make it right. Especially if the girl involved finds herself pregnant. These days people do all sorts of things together and never dream of marraige. They have three kids together and then are like "gee honey, what do you think about getting married?"

I am glad my parents taught me the virtue of marraige.

I think maybe the laws about mixing diffrent kinds of fiber with the fabric you wear for your cothes and different kinds of seed in your field are meant to simplify things and keep the Hebrews pure. Perhaps a wool-linen blend was more difficult to spin. Or maybe these were things pagans did, and God wanted to keep the Israelites apart. The kosher laws have been explained by modern dieticians and scientist that back in those days people were not able to cook pork and shell fish as thoroughly as we are able to cook them today, and you can get sick from eating their meat if it is not thoroughly cooked. Perhaps rabbit meat is not good, my mom said she's tasted rabbit meat, she says it tastes bad, much too strong.

Don't sweat it. I used to look at the Bible as a book of lies too, and it took a while for me to really get a good understanding of it, because there were many things within it that I didn't quite agree with, but nevertheless I had faith that God must have his reasons for everything and I agreed with myself to believe that I must not fully understand and therefore I was content and was not quick to dispute or contend with God about different things just because I didn't agree with them. So try to keep that in mind, God isn't a nutcase. ^_^ Though it seems to us that certain things in the Bible seem totally outlandish and out of wack, God is still sensable and has much more understanding than we do. Who are we as mere mortals with a limited understading to question the God who has infinite understanding and knows even the numbers of hairs on every head? But I understand where you're coming from and apology accepted, these things can happen.

You're right about the pre-marital sex thing. Some young couples are too focused on their own vain carnal passions and desires to focus on the essential inward sould based qualities of the personality that makes up who their partner truly is. And if you don't focus on the personality and the qulaities of your partner's inward traits, then you are ignoring what you could and should be living with for the rest of your life! People focus too much on the outward appearance of their partner and get caught uo in the phsyical aspects that they jump into a sexual relationship, and then when they start spening time together and even marry each other and/or move in together, they find out things about the other person v\based on who they are inwardly that they don't like, which usually ends with seperation or divorce. The major problem with this is that most of these couples have children as a result of their sexual passions, and when they seperate because of thinsg they don't like about each other, the kids are without their father or their mother. They are without the proper parental care whether it be a father figure or a mother figure in their lives, therefore when their father is at work, their mother can't be there to feed and/or take care of them, or when their mopther isn't there at work or whatever, their father isn't there to help them learn things and/or discipline them, which is an important trait for a father. Every child needs a proper balance of influences from both mother and father, for each parent posesses special individual and unique qulaities that are essential for the nuturing of the children. This creates a load of problems, and even when they do stick together, the atmosphere in the household can be hostile, filled with altercations and bitterness. This is a huge reason why God wants us to wait until marriage to have sexual intercourse, and also because when we do marry; esp in the name of God and in faith, we can be assured that we are bound by vows that last until death and that we cannot by any means break those vows except for the exception of adultery, and possibly even in habitual and relentless domestic abuse. When two people marry they are meant to be together for the rest of their lives, for they become one in an affinitive bond and are never supposed to be divided, which also assures their childrens' being taken care of both of their parents throughout their maturing stages. Remember;

So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate." -Matthew 19:6

This is one of the main reasons God is so strict about divorce. When two are united in love, they must remain together, for love is a strong bond.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. -1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Lust and love can be quite opposite of passions, yet between a married couple who are truly in love and have already established a non-sexual relationshiop based on who the person is on the inside and not on the out, the two can be quite the unifying bond and can go hand in hand. But love must be first and foremost.

Yes, that is so true, there is such a major difference between lust and love. Hollywood pushes its lust-centered view of romance on us, on our youth. Even in kid movies, in Disney movies, there is the lust-centered view of romance. No wonder so many Christians call Hollywood hellywood. The Twilight series, the woman who wrote the books claims to be a Christian, but the whole vampire romance thing is an abusive realtionship. After all Edward could kill and eat Bella anytime he wants to. I don't like vampires.

I really got off topic with last post. I want to say the Bible's laws are there for a reason. god has a good reason for all of the laws he gave to Moses in the Old Testament, we may not know all of the reasons but times were very different back then, and they applies to life back in Bible times. The penalty for kidnapping someone and selling him or her as a slave was death, that is reasonable, because it is a horrible thing to do, kidnapping someone is mean and evil. If a man really does rape a woman he is put to death. Of course women were expected to resist their rapists. I most certainly would resist. I like the law about gleaning. Ruth and Naomi followed this law, it applies to their story. Land owning farmers were required to leave some grain and vegetables, fruit on their trees produce from their fields left on the ground for the poor to harvest and gather up. At harvest time the hired hands would gather the grain and leave some left on the ground or in the field for the poor, the foreigners, the oprhans and widows to gather to eat. They would also leave some vegeatble and fruit, for the poor to gather up. This is called gleaning, that way the poor worked for their food. The story of Ruth and her success with gleaning is one of my favorite.

^_^Hahaha, you're funny, and I don't mean that in a bad way. Disney is full of sexual sublimnal messages. You should look it up on youtube, it's disgusting, there are still frames during movies like the Lion King with words like sex and sexual inuendo and flash images of male and female genetalia. They say that sex sells, and it is so true because sex stimulates the human psyche and triggers the primitive part of the mind which drives people to do outlandish things and pant like a dog begging for food, and in this state, a person is easily controlled.
