THE TRINITY OF GOD
This issue has been debated for a long time, and perhaps will be debated for a long time in the future. Many people still confused and asked same question “How GOD can be in three Persons, and at the same time be the One?”
Most answers to this question on the Christian Forums had been right answers, but it seems people still keep asking this question. So I would like to try a different approach to this subject and may be it will help better understand such enigma.
Let start from the very familiar thing to us when we look at our self in the mirror. What we see in the mirror? We see our self, perfect and full image of our being. No matter what we do before the mirror, the image in the mirror repeats exactly same things that we do before it.
Now let’s take a look at the Christ, about Him had been said:
2Corinthinas 4.4
4.in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that they might not see the Light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ Who is the Image of GOD.
Colossians 1.15
15.And He (Jesus Christ) is the Image of the invisible GOD, the First-Born of all creation.
If Jesus Christ is the Image of GOD Father as it said in these two verses, it means that He is the exact Replica, Image, Duplication, and a perfect complete Copy of His Father. In this case Jesus do exactly everything the same as His Father intend to do, He thinks, He do, and He says, as His Father Himself thinks, says, and do, just like the Image of His Father in the mirror.
Remember, Jesus is the Image of GOD Father in terms of His entire intellectual, emotional, and intelligent properties, and not the physical properties.
If you ask me, “Is Jesus Christ a Clone of His Father?’ I would say “Almost, but not completely,” He is a Clone of His Father’s personality and character as mentioned above, and that is the word “Image” is applying and defining in the text.
Why GOD created the Image of Himself? Perhaps He does not want to be alone. And Jesus Christ became His very first Creation, and in Him the GOD Father created a perfect Replica of Himself, the Image of all Spiritual properties He Himself have.
Revelation 3.14
14."And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The Amen, the Faithful, and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of GOD says this:"
All of these mean that whoever saw Jesus, actually saw the GOD Father Himself, but again, not the physical Image of GOD but His Spiritual intellectual Image, in Jesus Christ.
John 12.45
45.”And whoever sees Me, sees Him Who sent Me.”
John 14.9
9.Jesus said to him, "Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father, how do you say, 'Show us the Father'?”
Does Jesus Christ have free will being the Replica and Image of His Father, “YES” He has His Own free will, and that is actually separates Them from One Another, to be also two different Individuals, the Father and the Son. So in this sense, Jesus is not complete Clone of His Father.
If Jesus Christ would not have a free will, then He will be just a Clone of His Father and can be called as the Father as well, because there would be no difference between Them at all, just like our own image in the mirror that does not have the free will and cannot be independent from us in its own way. And we cannot call our own image in the mirror as a son, because there is no any difference between the image and us, and so we see in the mirror a complete clone of us.
The next question, “How They become One?” Because They both have same personality and the same character and the same process of thought They think and act as One Individual in perfect synchronization and unison.
The only thing that separates Them is again the free will which each of Them has, but in everything else, concerning the power, intelligence, intellect, and Their mind, They Are absolutely identical.
And this is why Jesus said many time that He does not came on His Own accord, and He does not speak from Himself, and He does not do things from Himself, but everything that His Father want Him to say and to do. In the Gospel of John these statements of Christ very well recorded like no in any other Book of the Bible.
In order to reveal a difference between Himself and His Father, and show that He is under the will of His Father and not of His own will, and saying and doing whatever His Father wants Him to say and to do, Jesus says number of times that the Father and He Are One, but also mentioned that the Father is greater than He.
Just like on Earth, the father always greater than son. So Jesus indicated two different family statuses, two different ranks, two different categories, by which One is higher (the Father) and One is lower (the Son).
John 14.28
28.You heard that I said to you, 'I go away and I will come to you.' If you love Me, you would have rejoiced, because I go to the Father, the Father is greater than I.'
1Corinthians 11.3
3.But I want you to understand that Christ is the Head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and GOD (GOD Father) is the Head of Christ.
And of course, how come a son can be greater than his father or even to be equal to him? And this is that separates the Father from the Son, the status, One is the Father, and the other is the Son, Creation of His Father, First-Born of all creation.
But in everything else, They Are absolutely the same and no difference between Them in Their character and personality.
Above all, GOD Father never called Jesus as GOD, while we know that Jesus is GOD, but for His Father He is only the Son. It is Jesus Who calls His Own Father as GOD, indicating by this that His Father is higher and greater than He, because He is the Father.
Psalm 45.7
7.You loved righteousness and hated wickedness, therefore GOD, Your GOD, has anointed You with the oil of joy above Your fellows.
Hebrews 1.9
9.You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness, therefore GOD, Your GOD, has anointed You with the oil of gladness above Your companions.
John 20.17
17.Jesus said to her, "Stop clinging to Me, I have not yet ascended to the Father, but go to My brethren and say to them, 'I ascend to My Father and your Father, and My GOD and your GOD."
Revelation 3.12
12.He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the Temple of My GOD, and he will not go out from it anymore, and I will write upon him the name of My GOD, and the name of the city of My GOD the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of Heaven from My GOD, and My new name.
Concerning Holy Spirit, when the Father created the Son, He put His Holy Spirit in Him, and because of it the Son became the Holy Spirit, and Son became Holy just as His Father is Holy. They Are permanently Holy and absolute in Their Holiness, and no one else except Them is holy as They Are.
We on the other hand do not have Holy Spirit of GOD (of Father and Son) in us, we have only LIFE GIVING SPIRIT – Life Giving Energy of GOD, received from Adam through childbirth.
Because if we possess the Holy Spirit of Father and Son, then we would become exactly like Them, GODS, in full meaning of this word.
Sometimes Holy Spirit of GOD (of Father and Son) possesses human being, entering him or her, and allows a person to achieve extraordinary feats otherwise impossible under normal condition, or humanly impossible. This was the case with Moses and Joshua, and judges of Israel, and many prophets. They received Holy Spirit, achieved the goal of GOD, and when Spirit of GOD departed from them, and they returned back to their normal condition.
Sometimes Holy Spirit of GOD (of Father and Son) possessing a person in order to human being to speak foreign languages, or to heal, resurrect dead, and even forgive the sins as it was happen with Apostles of Christ and their disciples.
Sometimes Holy Spirit allows a person to conduct a certain speech as it was with some of the Apostles and particularly with Stephen. On Stephen the Holy Spirit of GOD remained and after his speech in the council of Jews, and all the way to his death when at his final moment he saw the heaven opened and numerous angels welcomed him to his true family and permanent home, and he did not lose his composure even to the last moment of his life, having being possessed by the Holy Spirit to the end.
It is also been said that we are the “Temple of GOD” and the Holy Spirit abides in us, which is true if a person fully dedicated to the Lord. This means that GOD directs us and guides us in His direction, controlling our mind and our thoughts to some extend, and because of it we became holy.
But again, our holiness is not the Holiness of GOD, but our own holiness depends on our own dedication, faithfulness, and loyalty to our Lord, and can grow and be improved and perfected as humanly possible.
So in order to understand the Trinity of GOD, always remember the example of the image in the mirror, and view Jesus Christ as the Intellectual and Spiritual Image of His Father, and in this way it will be easier to understand of how GOD can be in Three different Spiritual Entities, and at the same time to be the One.
