We got to talking about this in another thread and I didn't want to derail it so it now has it's own thread.

We were discussing things concerning the two witnesses that prophecy in the end of days in Jerusalem and how after three days from being killed by the antiChrist and his cohorts they arise from the dead.

Three days has a significance that many only associate with the three days in the tomb that Yeshua spent.

But there are other places that can give us hints about the mystery of the three days.

These were brought up in that thread.

Hosea 6:
1 In their affliction they will seek me early, saying, Let us go, and return to the Lord our God; for he has torn, and will heal us; he will smite, and bind us up.

2 After two days he will heal us: in the third day we shall arise, and live before him, and shall know him:

3 let us follow on to know the Lord: we shall find him ready as the morning, and he will come to us as the early and latter rain to the earth.

Now many things can be gathered from these few verses.

1. Verse 1 - speaks of returning to the LoRD this means making teshuvah, same as what John was preaching before Messiah Yeshua came. Teshuvah means to turn away from other things and gods and return to the ways of the true G-d.
2. Verse 2- I believe speaks of the time period that we have almost gone through, 2- days = 2,000 years. It is believed to be about the time between the first coming of Messiah and the second coming concerning the majority of Jews.
3. 'In the third day we shall arise' - or 'He will raise us up so that we may live' is a more literal translation from the Hebrew.

now in reference to Revelation after the two witnesses are killed and lay in the streets the Spirit of G-d enters into them and the 'arise' and go into heaven.

The third verse is also in keeping with this

"and he will come to us as the early and latter rain to the earth."

This to me speaks of the first and second coming.

What third day or three days can you find to help round this out?

I remembered this narrative of David violating Torah by ordering a census. The prophet Gad informs him that the Lord has given him a decision on how the punishment will be reckoned.
2 Samuel 24:13. So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days' pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.
He chooses 3 days pestilence. He then offers sacrifices on the threshing floor of Araunah.
In the 1 Chronicles 21 version, Satan is involved.
The sacrifices are accepted and the angel sheaths his sword. David continues to offer sacrifices here rather than at the tabernacle of the wilderness which remained at the high place of Gibeon. A shift is beginning in where acceptable sacrifices are offered.
Anyway, the three days were involved so I thought to mention the narrative here.

You said you were going to move a copy. I gave the OK. Maybe you're worried about the rules? I said sure.

Here is the statement from the other thread. I would have been fine with you making your point in the other thread.

I'm not sure where you're going with this but here goes:

=======================================================

But it's not like Yahshua. Yahshua was like Jonah, three days and three night.

The two witnesses are for 3.5 days.

(CLV) Re 11:9
And those out of the peoples and tribes and languages and nations are observing their corpses three days and a half, and they are not letting their corpses be placed into a tomb.

(CLV) Re 11:3
And I will be endowing My two witnesses and they will be prophesying a thousand two hundred sixty days, clothed in sackcloth."

1260 days
30 days = Hebrew month
12 months = Year

1260/30=42

42/12=3.5

In the spiritual cosmos of our soul, days are measured by the dispelling of the darkness of sin and ignorance and the dawning of virtue and knowledge (of God) shined forth from Christ, the Sun of Righteousness (Malachi 4:2, 2 Corinthians 4:6, Revelation 21:23). Turning away from sin, i.e. repentance is the first day. The harvesting of virtue is the second. Third day is the knowledge of God: "Sow to yourselves for righteousness, gather in for the fruit of life: light ye for yourselves the light of knowledge;" (LXX Hosea 10:12).

In this spiritual cosmos, the teachings of the two Testaments act as the two witnesses (it’s what is being witnessed after all) that call for the transformation of our thoughts and actions. The Law teaches us about repentance and the practical/bodily virtues, whereas the Gospel the inner virtues of the soul (the circumcision of the heart) and the more perfect knowledge of God. The journey from sin to repentance takes 60 ‘days’. The world (and man) was created in six days and so the outward man is restored by working for 6 ‘days’ the commandments (10) of God (6*10=60). The inner man of virtue is completed (10) in 200 ‘days’, through the healing of our 5 senses so that they can perceive God’s creation (made up of the 4 elements) in a spiritual way and not sensually or passionately (5*4*10=200). Finally, knowledge of the one (1) God is completed (10) when raised to the knowledge of the Holy Trinity (3): 1*10^3 = 1000 (Revelation 11:3).

I hope I'm not breaking the rules with this post. As for the content, I realize it's a little heavy on allegory, perhaps we can file it under Remez (רֶמֶז) or Sod (סוֹד)?

The harvesting of virtue is the second.
Fruitful Growth in the Faith 2 Peter 1
5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; 11 for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Third day is the knowledge of God: "Sow to yourselves for righteousness, gather in for the fruit of life: light ye for yourselves the light of knowledge;" (LXX Hosea 10:12).

Why the choice of this verse? It speaks of righteousness, but is that not half?
righteousness-tsedekah and judgment-mishpat
Psalm 97:2. Clouds and darkness are round about him:
righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.

Psalm 106:3. Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

Genesis 18:9. For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and judgment, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.
The list is long, I just wanted to give a few examples, and ultimately close with the reason. First:
"Third day is the knowledge of God"
Jeremiah 22:16.
Did not your father eat and drink,
And do judgment and righteousness?
Then it was well with him.
He judged the cause of the poor and needy;
Then it was well.
Was not this knowing Me?” says the Lord.
So here is the point of the exercise. The modern evangelical presentation of the Gospel has done tremendous damage to the concept of Judgment. They have taken Grace to an extreme that there no longer appears that there will be a Judgment.

Yes, the Righteous God loves righteousness. His Son has become for us righteousness, and whosoever does righteousness is righteous. But he has appointed a day in which His Son will judge the world in righteousness. And then the children of God will shine.
The third day will be The Judgment, and then we will know Him as we are known, for we will be fully translated into the image of the Son of His Love.

One Yom(day) or hr may perhaps be another scale according to the age of an individual at the appropriate time Shaddai sees fit to do so.

Blessed be The Holy One

Psalm 97:2. Clouds and darkness are round about him:

The OP was quoting Hosea 6:1-3 and that is the context or perspective I was responding to. If you look at the verbs, it speaks of returning, healing, arising and knowing, hence the association I've made with that verse, again from Hosea.

There are many perspectives and divisions (and metaphors) of the process... of the mystery of our salvation. I don't see a contradiction with what you quoted from Psalm 97. And it seems to me that righteouness and judgment are not halfs, but two thirds. The other third is implied. What is that? The enthronment of God in our heart, from which we derive true (experiencial) knowledge of God (John 14:23).

Okay, I see the word associations between chapter 6 and the verse you quote from chapter 10. Thanks.
While the OP quotes Hosea 6:1-3, The topic is The Third Day. So when you posted in that regard:

Third day is the knowledge of God: "Sow to yourselves for righteousness, gather in for the fruit of life: light ye for yourselves the light of knowledge;" (LXX Hosea 10:12).
I had trouble seeing the connection to the third day we shall arise, and live before him, and shall know
The reason I mention Psalm 97 and a couple others was not an attempt to point out a contradiction,
but to show how often these two words are paired. This was just to lead up to this:
Jeremiah 22:16.
Did not your father eat and drink,
And do judgment and righteousness?
Then it was well with him.
He judged the cause of the poor and needy;
Then it was well.
Was not this knowing Me?” says the Lord.
This seems to be a fairly direct statement.
I still don't see what is implied, if you could clarify.

John 14:23. Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
This and many other verses imply knowing God in righteousness. But what about this statement, also from the Gospel of John.
John 5:29. And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
The clear implication in this passage points to Revelation and the Judgment to come. The crux of my post was that too much emphasis in the modern evangelical teaching on grace and the implied righteousness, blurs the significance of judgment. And no, I do not see how what is implied makes a third. For the implications of the Gospel to be conveyed properly, Righteousness and Judgment must be presented, even as they are in the scriptures, from Abraham in Genesis to Revelation.
To stand on the Third day requires it.

Actually it is the 4th yom morning at sunrise that a person stands just as is written by the psalm'er(singer) within a court of many waters.
The half yom is evening along with a half yom of morning divided by hands of praise.
Leaning on The Lord of Lights in the spirit of knowledge(milk) and honey(understanding) reveals the value of the land(earth/clarity) that produces beyond wheat and barley.

A place in the fluidity of time where bread is heard, seen, and sought after with both hands and feet that reveal a sincere heart ..

Blessings Always

Just in time for earth day tomorrow!
Or rather in time to show some youngins the dire results of challenging a double edged unsheathed sword that seals fate upon those who lack faith with works.

Consider for a moment that you perhaps are a wild olive in need of nurturing.
What would it take to convince a son or daughter they are in need?

In the Septuagint the above verse is stated in the negative:

They understood not, they judged not the cause of the afflicted, nor the cause of the poor: is not this thy not knowing me? saith the Lord.

Which doesn't imply that judgment and righteousness are the same as knowing God. They are requirements for knowing God. It's a trivial difference. Like Psalm 97 suggests, by judging rightly and truthfully as well as acting righteously, one prepares a throne in his heart for God to make His abode thereat. When that happens (this is the third), one can say truthfully that he knows God (Job 42:5).

As the prophet is pointing out to people who claimed to know Him.
Jeremiah 7:9-11. Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know, and then come and stand before Me in this house which is called by My name, and say, ‘We are delivered to do all these abominations’? Has this house, which is called by My name, become a den of thieves in your eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it,” says the Lord.

That is a nice quote from Job!
And for those who think they gain eternal life simply by repeating a prayer:
John 17:3. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
Matthew 7:23. And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
