  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If you examine the ten commandments closely, you will see that they are based on, and hang upon the two commandments Jesus Spoke of: "Love God with your heart, soul, entire being, and love you neighbor as well as yourself."

Well, the first four commandments are about loving and repecting and about putting the true God first in your heart, they are:

1. Thou shalt have no other Gods before me.
2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.
3. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord in vain.
4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it Holy.

All about what you should or shouldn't be doing, if you truly Love God with your whole heart, mind, soul, and your entire being.

The last six are about loving you neighbor as well as yourself.

5. Honor thy mother and father.
6. Thou shalt not kill
7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
8. Thou shalt not steal.
9. Thou shalt not bear false witness.
10. Thou shalt not covet.

If you think about it, if you really loved others in the form of respect if anything else, you would abide by these last six...

So Jesus was right about the ten commandments...

God Bless!

Hi Neogaia777, there are multiple ways to look at the ten commandments. Love is a part of it, but certainly not all of it, and I'm reticent to digress from your original intent.

Hello =)

I am so happy to come across this. Yesterday I put the signature in my avatar thing as Matthew 22 about Jesus and the two great commandments---about love.

Truly love is what God is about. To be a child of God is to love---love God first and foremost and to love your neighbor as yourself.

Thank you for starting this post =)

God bless =)
