I am not a Pastor nor am I a teacher, nor did I seek to lead this Bible study.
But rather God has placed it on my heart, to share what I have and to enjoy the benefit of what others have to contribute.
So we will study His Word together, and grow in a deeper fellowship with Him and one another. It has been placed upon my heart to do a chapter by chapter study in general and then discuss particular Truths in each one, rather than a verse by verse study with a lengthy outline. In this way, I think we can cover more ground at a faster pace, and yet grasp truths we have heretofore overlooked or did not fully grasp.
I will simply start with a general summary of each chapter, and then we can go back and look in more depth at the meaning it has for and to us. I think that the best way to do this is to perhaps dedicate an individual thread to each chapter. That way we can bounce back and forth from thread to thread and others coming in later can catch up on where we are by reviewing each thread.
This will be an attempt to look at God's Word as it is written and without a denominational slant. I would remind everyone that this is a Study. This is not apologetics and debates and arguments are not in order. If anyone insists on placing their slant on it, may I suggest that you start your own study, just as you would leave one church and seek another who espouses your views.
We will mention denominations only in the context of a doctrine and what some say or believe about it and lay it out for observation, but we will not adopt or endorse any such view. May God grant us His blessing and grace to to study together and gow in love for Him and one another.
So with this general understanding, I will open a thread on John - Chapter 1. BTW, for purposes of this study I will be usuing the Authorized KJV for a base.
